My experience has been the exact polar opposite as yours in every location where I have used their services (5 locations in 3 cities each 700 miles apart over the course of 10 years). If your local office gives you that sort of excellent customer service I commend them for it and wonder why they've never had it in my location.

A 'cable out' call on any given Wednesday was routinely met with boilerplate 'it should be fixed before next Tuesday' answer. And often it wasn't fixed by then.

Same here. They once said they would be at my home by end of day early in the morning. I said work from home 100% and need phone/internet. So they had a tech show up in 30 mins. Nothing but great service for me.

I pay around $80/month for 20Mbit ADSL2+ (unlimited) and phone with unlimited Canadian long distance, call display, answer...etc.

All these years I never knew this..Thanks for the info.

back when I paid for cable internet and landline. the cheapest I could get was basic comcast cable and comcast broadband for around 100 bucks. I had basic landline for around 27 bucks a month. but now I work at home, my company pays for my comcast internet and att landline. I have prepaid cell phone that I hardly use. so It's been working out great since 10/09!

They'll only mention it to you if you complain that your bill is too high and threaten to leave unless they can figure out a way to lower your bill.

Okay, now you got me curious. What are they charging for phones and internet in the centre of the universe?

It amazes me what people are willing to pay for this stuff that likely is 1000% profit for the sellers.

Wish there was a way around it, besides the old, dont use it bit...

Im on the verge though... Ridiculous pricing.

Think what people would have if they saved that $80-100/month for 30 or 40 years!

if you work for comcast, you get free internet/cable services. they may even give you free phone/security too.

Im definitely NOT in a rural area, but that would be nice - cell line with data tethered to a router and home phone service...

Of course they will charge excessive fees to do this stuff too.

I can't believe more arent outraged. Im on the verge of boycott.

You can't look at it this way. Most people also save time and money by being able to do things over the Internet. For example, they can pay bills online, they can trade stocks, they can purchase products at more competitive prices (and rob their local governments of sales tax revenue

), they can communicate with friends and family without incurring any usage fees, etc.

CLEAR (4G/Wimax) should already be available in your area. Although, at $35/month, you'd still be paying more than what you're paying for your DSL connection today...

+1 that's right. unlimited VOIP phone calls using internet connection. I use the broadband to stream netflix movies too. saves money there. you mention the bill paying online, online coupons, and tax free online buying. so the internet almost pays for itself some months.

I was feeling weird about paying $58/month for basic comcast cable tv. in fact, my wife said I can cancel it because she doesn't watch much cable tv. I can't justify cancelling it because I have four flat screen tvs in my house. I would feel lame with no cable tv with four hdtv flat screens. I have even got dissed for having basic cable on my 4 hdtv flat screens. oh well, so basic cable is my middle ground and since my company pays for my cable internet/landline. it's been ok with me. My sister was paying $150/month for HDTV cable and all the movie channels and internet. redunkulous! I do have to say, it reminds me of what Gary Allan used to say. these monthly plans like cell phone/cable tv/internet/satellite radio/onstar try to tie you into monthly bills for the rest of your life!

You can always hook up an antenna and watch TV for free.

I should have done it 3 years ago, too busy and end up paying $20 a month for basic cable for 3 years already. I better find time or else I'm wasting $240 / year for the rest of my life.

$30/mo for comcast high-speed, which usually returns nearly 20 mbp down.

$30/mo for comcast xfinity digital cable, with all of the usual channels.

Same set up The Critic has.

No problems paying it as the cost for entertainment/ business. Figuring out what to do with my week off after any work around the house is done would only eat up money in gas and likely money for whatever shopping spree I went on to entertain myself.
