I have had this intermittent no start for the last couple of years. Car is a 2007 A6 with 29k miles on it. It seems to be happening more frequently. Audi dealer checked out starter/alternator/battery and said all is within spec. Battery is new. Here is what is happening. Every 20-100 starts the when I turn key no crank. Some times I hear a slight click, other times I hear nothing. After 2-5 attempts she starts right up. Once it has started, usually cranks and starts no issue. It is more pronounced when car sits. To date car has always started after a few attempts. I am thinking of changing the starter relay it is only $12. Dealer couldn't duplicate, and to be honest sometimes it goes very long between issue occurring. Any thought are welcome.

If it happens again try it with the shifter in neutral instead of park. (This would indict the transmission safety switch.) Is there an alarm/immobilizer on the thing?

Only factory alarm

Replacing the cheap relay is a smart move at this time.
If it fixes it, great! If not, no real loss and a gain of a new part.
I'd test WHERE there is no electrical power in the system when it fails. Start in the middle or at either end - two different theories.
I realize more than most about intermittent problems! Can be tough!
