I received this filter from a Rockauto purchase many months ago. Wasn't expecting something so "vintage" but at least it's not an E-core. Finally got the nerve to use it, looks to be a decade old or more. I remember searching the box for a copyright date or some indication of age, but didn't find any. Filter states "Made in England." It's a PH3985 equivalent-- 20mm x 1.50 threaded filter that fits applications using a PH7317 (tiny filter common on Nissan & Hondas, the PH3985 is much larger). Used this on my Honda Odyssey for 7.5k using PUP 5w-40 Euro.

Haven't ever opened a filter with this construction before-- there is no metal shell inside, just heavy, thick pleats stuffed into the outer can. Ignore the crimp on the metal tube, I had to use a pair of pliers to pull that sucker out of the can.

FWIW, ADBV was in great condition, paper was stiff but not brittle. Everything was in as good a condition as one would expect a used filter to be in. The bypass valve was different-- it's supported by a leaf spring, but one that clicks in and out. When you put the required pressure on it, it clicks to fully open, release some pressure and it clicks closed. Can was quite thick, great construction overall I'd say. Anyone seen or used one of these before?

Interesting construction, you're braver than I am to run it. Glad it worked out. Thanks for the C&P.

That AC logo hasn't been used since 1995 IIRC, Keep in mind AC & Delco used to be separate divisions within General Motors. In 1974 they were merged to become AC-Delco but kept separate logo's & packaging 'til '95 when it became ACDelco.

English plants may have kept the AC logo longer than the ones here in the states?

I wouldn't have been brave enough to run it, but obviously you had no issues whatsoever.

Very cool construction.

At a minimum, late 1990's. Back when AC Delco was actually a filter manufacturer and not re-labler of other filter makers product like today. Remember those "Made in England" filters carrier in my local Walmart back then for the common GM sizes.
