Oil change interval 5,000 miles

Pennsoil Platnium 10-30w 5,000 miles = 2.5 quarts used
Valvoline Synpower 10-30w 5,000 miles = 3.0 quarts used
Mobil 1 0-30w 5,000 miles = ZERO quarts used

I see you already caught the usual BITOG jokes.

Yeah. The invitation was too easy, I couldn't resist taking it.

Edit: on a more serious note, it may not be the brand (although that conclusion is a logical one), as the first 2 were 10W-30 while the Mobil was 0W30. Its also plausible that his engine is better suited to a 0W30 oil. Or both. Those are the only 2 variables we're being given, and both are different.

How many OCI's did you do of each before switching to the next oil?

Maybe the M1 fixed a leak, because it was not primarily a burning issue?

One thing I can tell you for sure:
Cars that have been around the world 7 times normally don't fix themselves with an oil change. This is really rare!

+1, changing brands can have an affect. It's not uncommon for an engine to use some oil after changing brands, but then it settles down. It's not guaranteed b/c a lot of people change brands often and have zero consumption, but it's also not uncommon.

On a similar note, when I switched my vehicle over to M1 0w-30, it was the first time that I had to top up between oil changes. I'm currently on my second oil change of the M1 0w-30 but I haven't checked my oil level yet so I don't know where it's at

You are sooo right.
M1 AFE is not promoted as having any special benefits for a high mileage engine.
Maybe it does?

The order of the changes when this way and only for 5K before switching to the next oil.

PP, Synpower, M-1,PP

Do you think votality has anything to do with it?

All routine oil changes....no other cleaning was done! Only the Mobil 1 change went 5K without a top off.
