Somehow, I'm thinking the door opening is not the cause of this and someone was texting and driving.

My Taurus used to have the door pop open all the time. Not once did I put it on it's side and hit a telephone pole!

The drivers door popped open while she was making a left turn. If it wasn't for that part, I could ... almost ... believe the door popped open causing the wreck.

I think she was texting and flipped the car and made up a story

I have been driving sixty one years and have never had a door come open. She was chatting someone up on her cell phone or pushing those little buttons informing someone she was passing milepost 137.

Moron drivers, how do you roll a modern car? Come on. Maybe she hit some ice while she was playing with her Iphone.

in the early 70's, I almost fell out of a Opel Kadette my buddy was driving down a winding road as fast as it would go. Scares the bejeepers out of you ill tell ya. Musta had no belts. I always wear belts.

The story above is nonsense. A drivers door would open taking a right turn not a left. This is a Windstar type van, no?

For the door to be loose enough to open like that, it would have to be rattling around with the door ajar light on at the very least. Doors don't just pop open like that, at least on modern vehicles.

A lot of people beat up minivans pretty bad, and maybe if this van had a badly damaged front door and it's held shut with rope, wire, or some other ghetto fix, this could happen, but that's really doubtful. Even a partially latched door should not open.

It does sound like an "I don't want to admit to texting" kind of story.

First paragraph said she ran up on the utility poles guide wire.

That would do it.

After the first cold week, my drivers door would stop working. I just gave up on it. I'd just make sure to be buckled in and hold it shut.

One time I did light it on fire. It actually worked.

Got to break this one down....

First, article said she.made a LEFT turn...to me that means the right passenger door opened. Leaning across to close it, no way was she watching the road.

Second, it says she hit a guy wire, apparently one of those at a 45* angle. That would roll a vehicle.

She claimed the drivers side door opened while making a left turn. To me, that says, I was texting and driving and drove up a guide wire and came up with a poor excuse.

Yup, agreed...I missed the driver's door...

Apparently the Ford windstar. And a girl with a phone can defy gravity. Turn left and left door opens.....interesting!!!

I think it should be gay wire as the driver's name is Gay Saw.

BTW, did anyone see that comment:

What is a Ford Freestar? It sounds like a Tea party vehicle.

Whatever the wire was it didn't pop.

Looking at that picture ... the no parking sign is in front of the guide wire.

Was the person driving up the sidewalk?

I used to work right around the corner from this - it would not surprise me if the person was driving up the sidewalk.

Are my eyes playing tricks?
Is that house behind the rolled vehicle blue and the garage pink?

No, no tricks. That is Syracuse' northside. "drive" around it on google maps. Stuff like that is pretty common haha.
