After hearing much of the potential merits of the "suck some liquid into the intake to clean carbon from combustion chamber" I figured I would give it a try.
I had about a third of a bottle of Seafoam and a full bottle of B-12 Chemtool. Once I figured out the vacuum lines I inserted a plungerless syringe thingy into the line from the PCV to the intake. I did the Seafoam yesterday and the B-12 today and then changed the oil.
A couple of questions.
Comments on effectiveness of Seafoam vs B-12?
Are you less likely to hydrolock using one of these solvents vs water?
It seemed easier to me to do the Seafoam. Am I nuts? What I mean is that I could much more easily judge the surging and ebbing of RPMs with the Seafoam as i dribbled it in. Engine was warm both times but maybe warmer with the B-12. I stalled the engine about three times with the B-12. I only did about three ounces or so of B-12 as a result.
How much is enough?
How long an Italian tuneup is required to clear things out? After the Seafoam I did about 10 miles and after the B-12 about 15 miles.
While they both created noticeable emissions, only the Seafoam mimicked a fog machine. What gives?
