installing hid lights in 2000 mirage

Well this has been the best site in the world for helping me so i guess ill ask this dumb question here to ?

ok car is a 2000 mirage. The head lights suck major I dont want to install higher watt bulbs cause it might over load the little cars wires.

So im looking to trying a install hids light in the car i found a brand called DDM looks almost plug and play right ?

The 35 watt hid should be alot bighter then stock bulbs and only draw like 2-3 amps which should be easy one the wiring ?

SO do i just order h4 hids and they just plug is it really that easy ?

plus my head lights point down a little for some reason so it shouldnt blind other drivers yes the housing is broken so they will stay pointed down

What you do is get a new headlight harness. With thick wiring and relays. Then you make sure the headlamp plastic is clean and not yellowed. Then you install a set of Sylvania XtraVision bulbs. Night and day difference, guaranteed.

The installation is fairly easy, almost plug and play.

That's the best suggestion. Many vehicles, unfortunately, do not have headlight relays or thick enough wiring. You lose significant voltage by the time you hit the headlights. I'd go for a relay myself on my Audi, but apparently, the way the darn thing is wired, if you put in a relay, the computer thinks the headlights are burned out and the display shows that all the time.

Can you recommend a good headlamp plastic cleaner?

Don't put the H4 kit in your car. All you end up doing is glaring other motorists without really getting good beam for yourself.

If your plastic is oxidized and yellow, just try Meguiar Ultra Compound to see if you can make them clear again. I posted few pictures in the automotive lighting section. Just make sure to protect them with good sealant/wax afterward.

You can also buy 3M head cleaner kit which occasionally can be purchased very cheap from Amazon and has excellent reviews.

agreed HID seems attractive but it's a different type of bulb--- won't focus right in your reflector-- crâppy light on road, lots of glare to others. good daniel stern lighting for info.

Ok guys i polished up the headlights and installed sliverstars. They work a little better Any one know what the watts are on the 9003/h4 siverstars or the amp draw. I wish there were a little bit brighter still

Should consider Philips Xtreme Power 9003 bulbs. They're MUCH brighter than SilverStars. $50 at CarQuest, or $32 shipped from Great Britain.

About how much brighter are they ? the sliverstar look whiter and are a little bighter up close.

But im looking to to get a light that shines a little farest out for the back road i drive on with no lights for mile out in the middle of no way ville.

Can i get add on driving lights maybe ? and just turn them on when i need them out in the sticks . Or would that start to drain to much power from the alt over time ?
