Install of Valvomax

I can definitely see a mighty-vac leaving oil behind under most circumstances. The engine would have to be an absolute straight shot from the fill tube or dip-stick tube to the deepest part of the pan, or else its impossible to not leave oil behind, more than normal that is.
You might be surprised. There are 2 vehicles I've serviced that were not appropriate for the MityVac; a 2002 Silverado 1500 and an older Subie.
I tested our GS350 V6... I sucked out the oil, then pulled the plug, jacked one side of the car to put the pan at the optimal spot and let it drain. This is far more that Lexus, a shop or most DIY people would do. Less than 1/2 cup came out drop by drip. And the oil was hot; some of that was probably oil that drained back to the pan.

Top side extraction does not work for every vehicle, for sure. But it is a lot better than I originally thought. At least for the cars I use it on.
IMO, the ease of use has made the MityVac a great tool for services. I've even serviced cars on Christmas morning after getting cleaned up!

I wish I could find real world use cases with feedback and insight on the use of the MityVacs on any of the engines I own.
Mainly our 3 DDs, the LEX 3.5 (2GR), and our 2.5 SKYACTIVE along with the 4cyl in my Dads newer Outback Wilderness....

Decided to try a Fumoto. But didn’t like how much it stuck out from the pan.

So, got a Stahlbus. Much lower profile. Less to snag/catch. I like the security of the cap over the valve.

Is this for your 3URFE Tundra?

Does your tundra have skid plates?

I suppose your review of this is good?

After a quick look of the site...looks pretty well made.

I also noticed the funny "to english" translations: "Thus, the oil change makes fun!" I assume from German.

Most people with an inboard or I/O boat engine use some kind of suction device or pump or electric pump to change the oil.

I think there are only two or three people in the US who have an I/O besides me. Everyone else is outboard, outboard, outboard.

I wonder if anyone with say a Yamaha does much more work on their outboard besides change oil and gear oil and filter? It does not look very DIY friendly. Too much stuff pushed compactly into the housing. Also not sure how many DIY guys buy a Diacon to read the codes.

I installed a ValvoMax on the 2000 Volvo V70. The valve appears to be well made.

It works as described filling the 21 liter flat bag quickly if the dipstick is removed.

While it has skid plates (factory) the coverage isn’t great - and the Fumoto stuck out too much for me. The Stahlbus is much better. I have considered aftermarket skid plates for better coverage, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. I don’t 4 wheel this truck like I did the 4 Runner, so, it’s not a priority.

Thanks for the info. THe LX has a million of skids.

I may get one of those unit off your recommendation.

I suck the oil out through the dipstick 1st oil change. My 2nd oil change I have to go under car to change the oil filter any way so it gets drained the old fashioned way.

Half quart of old oil left inside engine is nothing to worry about.

Best to drain oil when very warm.
