A search turned-up nothing. Surely someone somewhere did one and posted it? I'm curious to see the results since these two cars are most-closely like my own 2006 insight (3 cylinder with IMA nd autostop).

From what I have seen there is actually a little more rear legroom in the Civic.

But the Insight has better economy, if only slightly.

I seem to think the Civic is a saloon and the Insight a hatch which might explain why the Insight is more popular in the UK.

Sorry I am referring to the later Insight.

They never really brought the early one into the UK, only a few.

They are sought after and thought to be better on fuel than the Civic or later Insight.

You are right, I don't remember seeing any UOA. What oil do they use?

They are certainly rare birds. I've seen only one in person.

Edit: 0W20 according to wikipedia. I like the "D" size of battery format.

How do they age and is there an used car market for those? I would be interested in one for my kid.

I think the owners of the original Insights arent giving them up without a good reason.

I meant the Insight and Civic Hybrid have similar engines (with lean-burn, autostop, and electric boost). I was hoping to see any oil analysis. You see a lot of 300,000 mile insights on ebay, but they do have one fatal flaw:

- the CVT dies around 150,000. It dies faster in the Civic due to it being almost double the weight. Many civics had CVT failure at 100,000.

I didn't know that. Is yours manual?

Yep. I avoided the CVT because I suspected the belt would stretch over time, but it's worse than that. The internal mechanisms that shrink or expand the "pulley" wear out. Many Civic Hybrid owners now change their CVT oil every 10,000 miles to try to avoid the issue. It also affects insights, but not as frequently since they are so light and the electric motor is smaller (1900 pounds, 10 hp).

Well looks I'll be the first. 3-cylinder insight with Mobil 1 "fuel economy" 0W-20 at 7000 miles. That's a lot of miles! Could take half a year! Maybe I'll go explore Northern CA or nearby Arizona.
