FWIW on my Epson printers that setting is a check box in the Web interface for the printer.

Mine is a 4100. Thw cartridges have chips. I read something that said if I set the printer to print in grayscale it would continue printing. I'll find out next time ink gets low. The lifespan of the cartridges os not great. OP, sorry I sent the thread on a tangent!

My built in fridge filter has never been changed and will not be as long as the water flow and clarity is good. I just hit the reset button and it's good for another 6 months. Ed

For anyone who wants filtered water, they change every six months. If filtered water does not matter then true, you do not have to change it.
