Is this a good thing to do to the injectors of an Older car, that has NOT had its maintenance upkept? Followed by MMO (How much lol? Shock treatment? 10 oz? 4? 2? at every quarter tank) after, for optimum Fuel system performance?
Ive come across a car with Gas sludge/varnish/gum/RUST !! In its fuel lines and filter (nasty brown/red gas, it was nasty, and "Sour") and its like that all the way up to the engine.. Fresh gas was added after Tank was drained in a cheap manner, and it started and ran, smoke coming out.. but it hesitates, sat for some years, and now needs the guts of it cleaned out. Owner reports problems that can be traced back to fuel, and two Fuel Pumps have died.
Would Injector Rx be suitable for this not properly upkept vehicle? Our strategy of "Run it and put a lot of fresh gas in" does not seem to be doing the trick. And i can only imagine what the charcoal canister, fuel injectors, and engine (?) look like.
Most cars maybe dont need IRX. This one was pretty bad. It was an 88 town car, its fuel injected.. But wow, sat in a garage for about 5 years, idk if it started up once. I know it had to get towed to us, and we put in a fresh battery.. and oooold gas. (No it wasnt removed. Parked some time ago, perhaps circa 05? Owner was unaware.)
Injector Rx? All 8 of em? (And YES, the Fuel Pump on these is NO FUN to take out. Interesting design they made, wish it had access door. My God! Like a XR7/T-bird FP.)
I think this car needs ARX too but this thread is about Injector Rx, to get it back to Regular Service. Not bad, just god-awful "You were supposed to take this stuff out how did you just forget about this car" type deal.
