Car started idling rough and missfire at low rpm’s on Tuesday. Check engine light came on scanner gave me P0205 code. I checked ohms at the 3 injectors i can get to without taking intake off which is cylinders 4,5 and 6. Injectors 4 and 6 read 14.3 ohms and #5 is 246 ohms. I had cleared the code and car seems to be running normally. Car has 135k on it. What causes the high ohms reading? I run top tier gas but dumped a bottle if Chevron Techron cleaner in tank today. Could it just be a dirty injector and correct itself or is it gonna need replaced?

I would just replace all the injectors. I’ve seen these engines with stuck open fuel injectors and that can seriously do some big damage if the problem goes unnoticed. This happened with my 2010 ford Taurus one time. The check engine light started flashing while I was driving, and the car was running very rough. Turned out one of the fuel injector was stuck open and was dumping massive amounts of fuel into cylinder 6. I got the injectors replaced immediately. I don’t think the injector was stuck open because of carbon deposits, I think it just malfunctioned from age. I would think the car would automatically shut off the bad injector when this happens, but they don’t. The cylinders can hydrolock, so I would say just replace all the injectors, just to be safe, because this can happen if it was misfiring.

I'd measure again, but sure seems like #5 is bad and needs replaced. If you were measuring from the back of the connector, then I'd take connector off and direct measure injector. Techron might clean it out a bit but won't electrically repair an injector.

X2. If the CEL did not come back, to me it indicates the injector condition is intermittent and can come back anytime. Replacing all the other injectors may be a good idea.

The correct term is "I checked the resistance at the 3 injectors"

Little frustrated. Mechanic tested car today and said no problems with fuel injectors. Had told them the code although I had cleared it and has been running fine since last week. Picked it up and drove home after work. Got in the car a few minutes ago to go somewhere and knew immediately it was missing again when I started it. Drove it a few miles and check engine light on. Yep, P0205 and also P0305 and P0174. Ugh! Checked resistance on #5 injector and is 74 while #4 and #6 are 14.3. Maybe I will change it myself.

My DIL's 3.0 Fusion had fuel injector problems and I put in cheap ebay ones... I think it might have fixed it, but not perfectly. Also, I had a cheap ebay injector die in my Ranger not too long ago.

So - in my opinion - get a set of "rebuilt" OE injectors or grab a set from a junkyard and send them to be rebuilt. No more cheap injectors for me.

If you intend to go the rebuild route, send them to RC Injection. This shop is the best. https://www.rcfuelinjection.com/

Can i start the car and then pull the fuel pump fuse until the car stalls rather than disconnect the fuel line to relieve pressure? I don’t have the tool to disconnect the fuel line. Good advice on cheap injectors.

One thing I noticed with this intermittent issue is the injector is either working or not with each drive cycle. I know immediately after starting the car if it is missing as the idle is poor. Next time I start the car it may or may not misfire. It never changes status during the drive cycle. I have not tried shutting the car off and on a few times when the injector is not working to see if it corrects it but am curious to try it and see what results I get. Can’t wait to replace the injectors.

I would think the car would automatically shut off the bad injector when this happens, but they don’t.

If the ECU no longer has control over the fuel injector, how do you expect the ECU to shut it down?
As long as there is fuel pressure in the rail, that stuck open injector is going to keep spraying fuel.

Actually, it’s impedance:
