The wifey surprised me with a Weber Q 120 portable propane grill and travel stand tonight. This grill is portable, with handles and flip-out side tables. It also has a temperature probe and electronic push-button ignition. The travel stand is supposed to double as a caddy. We haven't tested that function yet. Weber also makes a Q 100 without the side tables or temperature gauge, and with regular clicker ignition.
So, with the 1 screwdriver assembly complete in 10 minutes, we washed the grate and fired it up. Even with a 1 lb propane cylinder, it heated up very rapidly. We threw some steaks on after 7-8 minutes of warmup, and they were cooked evenly despite being in different positions on the grill. Likely that's a function of the extremely heavy grate on this thing. Cleanup was also pretty easy, consisting of washing the grate, wiping down the inside, and emptying the drip tray.
In summary: I like it, and is essentially a mid-range grill that happens to be quite portable for a family picnic or beach outing.
