This was a email that I received from K&N about the HP-6001 oil filter. The last comment kinda scares me, what do you think?

They claim 10 to 20 micron, so I was asking at percentage.

""Dear Christopher

Single Pass 90.92% Avg. Efficiency 89.51%

The media is composed of 94% cellulose, 3% polyester fiber, and 3% micro fiber. The wood based cellulosic fibers provide the basic maze of inter-woven "filtering" structure and provides depth and bulk to the sheet. The synthetic polyester fibers reinforce the cellulosic fibers to help the paper withstand high temperature and increase the tear or fatigue resistance. The micro glass fibers are extremely small in diameter and are used to create a very fine pore structure, while allowing minimum restriction to filtered flow. The combination of these components provide premium filtering efficiency, capacity, and life. We consider the glass to be a positive rather than a negative feature.

Thanks for writing

Fred""

I'm confused, which comment scares you?

I saw the 6001 filter the other day, that thing is massive! It must hold at least 2 quarts of oil, if not 3. Do you use this filter, and if so, what vehicle?

The part were they say they consider the glass to be a positive thing rather then a negitive one. Normally I would have never thought about it being a negitive thing, but since he made that statement it just has me wondering.

No I don't use it yet. It is for a Ford PowerStroke Diesel.

Christopher.......How did you phrase your question to them?

I told them that they claim 10 to 20 micron filtration, so I just asked at what filtration percentage.

Something wrong with there claim???

Well that is strange. Maybe alot of people question the partial glass construction of their filters, and they were expecting the same of you. Maybe they are just goofy.

The filtration efficiency isn't as bad as I thought (as long as those specs are correct).
