Info on Carquest Oil Filters

Carquest Blue oil filters are top quality Wix filters complete with silicone anti drainback valve, glass enhanced media, etc. I don't know what the prices are in the USA but here in this part of Canada they are very competitive. I paid 9 bucks for a WIX oil filter for my VW (just a white filter, no gold flake or anything on it). The VW dealer sells OEM for 15 so I would think the smaller carquest filters are also competitively priced.

The CarQuest Blue and Napa Gold are the same filter, so get whichever is better priced. Both are Made by Wix.

The local (i.e.Canadian) price for a Carquest Blue to fit a 95 3.0L Ford V6 was $6.00 and change. In other words, about the same as a Motorcraft at the local Ford dealer and a couple of dollars less than the Candian Tire Formula 1 (Which is a Fram - probably a tough guard).

The most expensive premium type oil filters like Purolator Pure One or Mobil 1 aren't available in this area so Carquest Blue, Napa Gold and Ford Motorcraft are probably the best available to us.

Hi,
With Wal-Mart no longer carrying the FL-1A for my 00 Explorer, I am considering other options.
Recently, I noticed that a Carquest store opened near me in New Hampshire and wanted some info on their filters.

I believe they are Wix?? correct me If I'm wrong.

If someone could provide Which Grade Carquest (Red, Blue??) is comparable to my FL1A along with approx. prices on each, that would be terrific.

I understand that Wix is the vendor for Motorcraft oil filters in Canada. From what you have available, Wix may be your best choice.
