In order, your top five 1960's-1970's Muscle Cars of all time.

When I met my wife she was driving a 66 Goat post coupe. The 454 77 in my sig was by far the best sink the eyeballs into the skull machine until the Crane cam went to the pan. The truck is getting an LS 2SS with a 6speed auto soon, will see how that turns out. We had friends who had most of the late sixties machines, was a wonderful era.

1970 ford torino cobra 429 super cobra jet drag pack.
1963 pontiac grand prix 421 super duty dual quads.
1969 oldsmobile F85 350 W31.
1964 plymouth sport fury 426 super stock commando stage III.
1964 dodge polara 500 426 cross ram max wedge.

Just a few that I wake some nights dreaming I am driving. Actually I could add about 20 others.

1) 1963 Plymouth Belvedere - - - - - - - - - - - - - -426 cui Max Wedge
2) 1965 Chevy Chevelle Malibu Z16 - - - - - - - - -396 cui
3) 1970 Buick Gran Sport Stage I GSX - - - - - - - -455 cui Ram Air
4) 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator GT-E- - - - - -427 cui
5) 1970 AMC REBEL Machine (one year only)- - - 390 cui Ram Air
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*NOTE* Of course so many Pontiacs and Olds muscle machines - too many to list.
Very sad that there is no longer any Pontiac or Oldsmobile divisions of GMC left in existence today.
Especially since it has been said by many that the Oldsmobile Rocket engines along with the creation
of the Pontiac GTO started the muscle machine craze that is still (in many places) going strong to this day.

Does anyone remember the 1970 Plymouth Fury with the 440 six pack...Yes a six pack in a Plymouth Fury...
Do u recall the wild looking special order rear deck lid spoiler they nicknamed the "cheese grater?"
I been looking for a photo of one I know I have. I thought they were kind of neat looking. Highway Patrols
ended up using lots of those 440 powered Fury Plymouths:) for a while. I remember a local cop saying they
had lots of trouble keeping those monsters between the ditches. What is wild too is I would bet they came
with tiny 14" wheels from the factory with all those horses under the hoods.

That was my second Torana...I built the 186.c.i. 6 in it, triple 1-3/4" S.U carbies etc...awesome fun.

Then I got the red 1979 at the back, and built the 202c.i. 6 in it...did 75,000km in it one year at 30MPG.
Had all three at once, the middle green one was a 308c.i. V-8 4 speed, and the white one a 254 c.i. V-8

And the XU-1 - 202, triple Stromberg cabs, etc.
My old grey one was faster, I liked the short stroke 6s more...would have been another $quarter M to the ex if I'd still owned it...haha

Yep - I was by far the youngest - and my oldest sister married older than her - he owned a Mopar dealership - roll of the dice what’d he’d bring home daily 😜
Funny. I 'm looking all over the place for the photos of (what I thought was a 1970 Plymouth Fury GT ).
Went thru photo albums from cars shows, the internet , my man cave library auto section, etc... I CAN NOT find a Fury GT or Fury II or Fury III with the spoiler I remembered seeing. Body style looks identical to what I remembered. I give up. Walk into the living room. Wife is asleep with Tv still on an auto / history channel that I had been waiting to come on earlier. The air two to three episodes back to back. She had told me she spotted this new auto show where the guys own these detail shops and they seek out and even get calls from folks with stored , badly neglected "garage finds" that really look shot. The owners / detailers make deals to either charge so much to detail or they will in some cases actually purchase the cars to flip. So, the show is kinda new , wife knows I would like it so she called it to my attention last weekend. Show is called "Dirty Cars." So I am game. Seen one or two episodes a few days ago. The show comes back on from commercial break and I could not believe it. Here they are detailing a 1970 Chrysler NOT the (Plymouth Fury) that I "thought" I was looking for! A 1970 Chrysler 300 HURST-S.E. Its a Special Edition HURST in the exact Gold + White trimmed , long time Hurst colors I remembered. What I forgot was that HURST actually did do some other S.E. models besides the always popular and well known Oldsmobile Hurst- Special Editions each and every year that most of the auto community + writers waited to see unveiled at the annual Chicago Autorama. Ta Da! So here is the car, same manufacturer - Dodge-Chrysler-Plymouth. Almost identical body style as Fury GTs I thought I remembered. It was revealed to the general public back then as the Gentelman's Muscle Car. A one year only model. Hurst ended up sticking mostly with Oldsmobiles thru the 70s and into the 80s for his once a year Hurst Olds S.E.s They are rare and quite collectible now. I been hunting for a 1976 or 1977 Hurst Olds-S.E. Cutlass with auto and air for years. 1970 Chrysler 300-S.E.

They were great...
The earlier, rounder ones were a Vauxhal Viva, with a wheelbase extension, and an Aussie 6...and yes, rack and pinion, like most british cars of the era....my first car was such, with a 138 6 cylinder, and 4 wheel drums...the disk, and around a tonne of car were quite effective.

The bigger engines with disk brakes were awesome.

The square ones were Opel based, similarly Rack and Pinion...with 1.9, or 2 litre four, 173, and 202 c.i. sixes, and 253, and 308 V-8s...

1970 Chevelle SS LS6 454
1970 Buick GSX Stage 1
1969 GTO Judge
1970 Plymouth Superbird
1968-1970 Dodge Charger
Back then , 1970 as a teen, my head just about exploded when I caught wind that Dodge/Plymouth had actually built and released the Dodge Daytonas and Plymouth SuperBirds. Even the Dodge Coronet R/Ts where hot stuff. Though they take back seat to the Chargers / Road Runners , Super Bees. LOL Before the 70 SuperBirds etc... We had a teacher when I was in 8th grade who would drive her husband's B7 blue Coronet R/T to school. I got in trouble because I kept getting caught hanging in the teacher's parking area hanging around that car.

I'm usually a '71 guy when it comes to Cuda's but the simplicity of this '70 really spoke to me.
Check out the entire listing, this thing is so nice.

One of the sweetest ones I have seen. The particular color of those cars always make or break it for me.
I have a magazine I was just looking at today and they had two cars with original owners of their 100% nut & bolt restoration beauties to compare side by side. They each got to drive the other guys cars and comment. The cars in the article were a 1970 Chevelle Super Sport 454cui next to a 1970 426cui dual carb Hemi Cuda. Both were immaculate and blasts to drive the owners reported. They both agreed the Chevelle interior much more comfortable YET the Hemi Cuda was one of those "catch your breath" when you got done kind of driver. Both cars were / are speed kings for their day and even now.
