Oooooo, I don't have one of those! More accurately, I didn't have one of those.

Taking a more proactive approach to my own car maintenance again, I found this forum. I've also realized there are many tools and gadgets I don't/didn't have. There wasn't any tool I didn't have to do what needed to be done, but these are things I didn't realize just how much I needed:
  • Magnetic Drain Plug Tool
  • Large Oil Funnel with Adapter for my Engine
  • HPL PPPCMO Oil, although I have Amsoil SS for three more OCs. Waiting for the 4th-of-July sale for more HPL
  • Lisle Funnel Kit for drain/fill coolant... and my car is brand new!
  • Jaco Digital Tire Pressure Gauge, because my analog ones, and the built-in Milwaukee 18v Inflator might be off by .2 PSI
  • Folding Oil Drain Funnel
  • Oil Filter Cutter
  • Oil Absorbent Pads
  • Portable Ramps
  • Pair of Heavy Duty Wheel Chocks
  • And of course, a Five Gallon, HD, Leak-Proof Container to take the used oil for recycling
Hi. My name is rsctso and I'm addicted to buying things I perceive may be needed in the future.

Being prepared is the boy scout motto. More tools = more efficiency. Time is money. How many more reasons need to be listed, I'm sure others will.

I've recently "upgraded" my Milwaukee 12v tools to many of their 18v. Now I have two portable band saws, but the throat opening is 3/4" larger on the 18v.

Ha! On the cusp of retirement, I just sold off about 2/3 of my tools and automotive equipment in my garage sale.

My philosophy is to not do a thing that resembles "work" in any form in my retirement that I don't have to do. After 40 years of rotating 12hr shift work and 60hr work weeks, I deserve all the rest and leisure I can get. Absence of tools=leisure for me! LOL.

My tool acquisitions have been slowed the last few years as I'm still assimilating the mixed bag (good stuff plus some not so good) of tools acquired from my father in law and now my dad.

Every time I get the urge to buy something for no particular reason I can open a box and find something new I don't need.

Congratulations on your near-retirement. I'm planning on sticking with my day job for now, as it affords me the opportunity to travel to London on their dime. Also, I work at home at a desk all day, and have rekindled the joy of working piddling on my vehicle. If my full-time job was manual labor, I wouldn't be the least bit interested in doing it, either.

I don't buy impulse. The most tools I ever bought in one short span of time was when I had my garage built. I thought carefully about what additional equipment I wanted and purchased it. Haven't really bought much since.

I do love my Rhino Ramps, but you forgot to mention the Fumoto valve……;)
I haven't forgotten, having read threads yesterday talking about them. But you see, I bought a bag of twenty Honda crush washers and I'd hate to see them go to waste. And besides, I wouldn't get to use my latest torque wrench (set to 30lb-ft) for tightening the drain plug.
