Here they are basically regular cops. They have jurisdiction off campus, and they take you uptown if they arrest you.



The campus police here have exactly the same training as regular police officers do. They both go to the police academy and both have their POST certifiction (peace officer standardized training)

There's a not nice term for wannabes in ex cop cars. Starts with W... and reminds me of old English/Aussie slang.

Campus cops are way more likely to be real cops at state schools. Private colleges, unlikely. This means their parking tickets are actually effective.
