Well, you do get to do a few things better than you did the first time around. You have a little more patience because you're not "under fire" as much with the other matters at hand, but less endurance. Child rearing is a career for the young. It's always easier for the older second or third string quarterback. He only has to condition himself for 10 minutes of play time.

I asked an older friend what the big push was for his children to have children. I mean it was a semi-obsession. He said, among other things, so that his grandchildren would get to know him/them. It never really occurred to me until I a grandchild. Before that moment, I sorta said "Hey! Wasn't it rough enough for you the first time around? Why rush anyone into that sorta thing? Now he's got three grandchildren and has to either go to MN or the West Coast (son is a Marine) to see them (he's in PA).
