That cheap tires may not be as bad as we once thought. Granted, we might not use them on the new car or truck, but for that older car....maybe not so much.

Cars that are running these "cheapies", and the milage so far:

2005 Malibu Maxx- Sunny, 12k

2003 Cavalier- GTs, 10k

2005 Civic, Mastercraft, 22k

2006 Focus, Bluestreak, 5k

2001 Caravan ,GTs, 27k

1999 Escort, milemark, 13k

And all these tires have had no issues so far...a few even said that they were impressed by how well they are wearing...

I figure I might get a beating for this, but it's starting to look like the quality of those tires are picking up. Also, tires like this only work for sizes 16 and under, because after that, the prices of larger tires are baout the same. Then there is where you live....

But in the last few months, I've really started to see a huge jump in private brand tires.

Checking to see what your opinion is on this....

Made in China tires would be my last choice. I ran some Mastercraft tires they were really nice tires I would run them again .I hope they were not made in China.

Mastercraft is a brand owned by Cooper Tires. Cooper Tires are made in America - not sure about their MasterCraft brand. Decent tire though.

The number of miles from a set of tires is only one criterion of many that denotes the value of a tire. Otherwise, I'm glad you've found what works for you.

I always have gotten great mileage out of Goodyear OEM tires, example:

Nissan Munrano - 50,000 miles and still going strong

1995 Pontiac Bonneville - 80,000 miles

2001 Chevy Impala - 65,000 miles

1998 Corvette - 45,000 to 55,000 miles (high performance summer tires)

That, and how it handles too....

And that would be for different people also...

In the case of my Cavalier and it's 14s, there is not going to be a huge difference...granted, snow traction could be different for some....

My tires? I haven'y decided yet. But the Wife's Cav runs on Kelly Navs (goodyears), and are very good tires for all around driving....

Goodyear tends to be hit or miss. I was amazed that I got 50k out of her Goodyear Conquests....

I do not know about all MasterCraft Tires but the Avenger LSR touring and The Cooper CS4 are the same tire and are made in the USA. They are not cheap though.

Most of Mastercraft's tires are about the same price as Cooper..which mutes the savings point.
