Let's be clear, Taylor Swift gave out roughly 55 million dollars who were not employees of hers but worked for companies on her tour.
no kidding. Is this a joke?!? Of course they may not be employees of hers. But let’s also be clear. Why are they working? What is the reason that they were doing what they were? Oh that’s right, the TS tour.
That 55 million was a significant gift from her income which is estimated at 340 million on the tour.
this was supposed to be the only thing. You say it is impressive. I say it isn’t given how much that she’s making. As I’ve said for the umpteenth time, that doesn’t mean that it’s not a wonderful move and a nice gift, good example. It just doesn’t impress me based upon percentages. How many times do I have to say it?
You keep insinuating that these are employees of Taylor Swift, it's a false statement.
not really. They are de facto employees because if TS wasn’t touring they wouldn’t be employed working on the tour. They hopefully would be employed doing something else… Big difference and your semantic games don’t help. Why are these people working again? Remind me for who and what theyre doing work for…
Oh, and those soup kitchens that were so grateful to her? yeah, any money she gave them buries Jeffs Gift as far as percentage of income. How does that figure into the being part of her tour?
that’s not what you were impressed about in your OP. If you want to make the case that she makes nice humanitarian donations when she goes around, I’d agree. But it’s NOT the premise of the OP or your constant debating.
Her one BILLION dollar tour as you refer to almost sounds like you are discrediting a billion dollars in economic activity. DO you feel the same about Amazon, all their employees, support structures ect over a million secondary jobs?
You are the one who added the red herring about Bezos and Amazon. Again, like the soup kitchens, if you want to make another thread about nice humanitarian moves, do it and we can discuss that. But don’t throw red herrings into the discussion and then compare apples to oranges. It’s not helping your case. Your OP was about being impressed about her gifts. Not bezos, not soup kitchens. This is just laughable.
Jeff Bezo gave almost half of one days income to the people of Maui, who are customers of his and some self promotion of his company. Jeff makes approx $175 million a day. I am sure you know, Amazon sells more than that and profits way more that that directly "off the backs" of the people of Hawaii. Im curious who notified the press of this gift/ and lets face it, that money doesnt come from Jeffs compensation package.
seriously with the endless red herring?
Recall that you’re comparing apples to oranges as TS is the specific reason for all the peoples’ employment, regardless of who they work for. JB may donate for whatever reason he wishes.
So we can do thirty seconds of googling and find out more. Hawaii only has about 1.4M people, and only about 70 people per 100k work for Amazon. So about 1000 people in Hawaii work for Amazon. Not a huge practice. Maui is the third most populated island, falling far behind others with 144k people. So we can guess that Maui might have 100 amazon employees
So if you want to keep convoluting things, Bezos is donating about $1M per employee to Maui (of course they’re not getting it). But to say that there’s a huge population or business presence there, which was my point, is absolutely the case. You set up this red herring to compare two different things. And the numbers sure look like Maui isn’t a major money maker. PR? Sure. Humanitarian donation? I’d guess. Nice move? Yes. Different than TS? Yup.
I have no problem with either contribution by the way but it's evident in here not just to me but others your bias? (lack of a better word)
I have no problem with either, either. Not sure what point you’re trying to make about bias. Swift and Besos’ donations were different for the reasons, purposes, and linkages. Apples to oranges.
And I truly have no bias. As was said my many I don’t care for her politics, and probably those of most of her fans, but that’s not a discussion for this board or relevant to the whole thing. My lack of being impressed, again, ad nauseam was based upon numbers and percentages. I don’t need to be impressed, and I can still recognize that it’s a nice thing to do. I don’t get why this is difficult to comprehend.
