ILSAC GF-2 vs ILSAC GF-4

Hey fellas is there a difference between these two specs? Im would like to go with Maxlife red bottle in my wifes Jetta 2.0L. None of the specs for her car match the specs on Maxlife.

GF-2 is old, like SJ rated. The latest Maxlife is SM/SL.

GF-2, SG, SH and SJ is what my 2.0L Jetta calls for and Maxlife is GF-4 SM and SL. So is GF-4 ok to use is a GF-2 spec engine?

Yup, the latest oils are back spec'd. In other words, SM can be used for SL, SJ, SH. And GF-4 for GF-3, GF-2, GF-1.
