If you owned a Saab 9-5.....

I do own a 99 9-5 albeit with the V6 but without a warranty nontheless.

I plan to use 5W30 dino.

Well, congrats on the car. It's a baby on oil compared to the 2.3l but it's still a turbo'd engine. I'd at least use something like Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 in it.

I would do the same thing, using the 0W-40 (a great oil and it's Saab approved) at 5000 mile intervals...4 quart sump is pretty small, so I would NOT push it past 5000 miles max.

I own a 2004 9-5. I have used M1 0W40, GC 0W30 and Schaeffers 9000 5W40. No oil analysis, however it runs and sounds the best with GC then Schaeffers.

I use Amsoil oil filters and change the oil every 5,000 miles with the filter, because my driving varies from 2 miles a day to 200 miles a day.

I know you have an 04 and the sludge issues had been pretty much eliminated by then, but have you ever checked to see how things look internally?

Mobil 1 TDT 5w-40, Mobil 1 0w-40, GC 0w-30 all are great picks, ran them all in our Saab. On the MaxLife now to see what it does for a few annoying leaks that popped up the last 7K miles.
