My 1994 Astro van is close to oil change time, I changed it 15 months ago and have put 2,620 miles on the change. It is only driven on the highway, never less than 40 miles, it is never driven short distances or in town traffic, so what interval should I change the oil? The oil looks as clean as the day I changed it & never had to add an ounce. I used Valvoline Nextgen 5w30 and a Fram ToughGuard filter.

Thanks for any input

Yes - a good conventional and annual changes. PYB and a Purolator Classic will run you $20 at Wally World.

Normally in such low mileage scenarios I would say once a year, but based on your inputs I actually think you could go a little longer - Perhaps 18 months.

Nice to hear of a 19 year old vehicle that doesn't burn oil like crazy... I had a '94 GMC Sierra 4.3 v6 that drank oil due to a bad valve guide from the factory - otherwise it was a great engine.

This little darling just turned over to 70,000 miles, it is a conversion van & has always been maintained well by the previous owner, it runs and looks nearly new, I have been the proud owner for almost two years.

Agree with the Bandito.

Keep things simple and change the oil and filter once per year.

Full synthetic should be good for 2 years / 5K miles in your case, or if you use something real cheap or park in a dusty or humid spot, then just one year.
Try the oil guide or finder web page and look up your exact engine for more accurate advice, but your use sounds like normal cat.

Thank you one and all for your input, I believe I have my answer, now is the time to change the oil @ about 15 months unless things change

thanks again
