I was in the wrong and I don't care.

Being poor is the best thing you can do for the planet. I don't see many poor Tesla owners.

But then if they didn't buy the Tesla, they'd probably jet over to Switzerland to go skiing. No winning for the blue marble.
Yep, saw a starving farmer yesterday pulling a 35’ tri motor offshore boat with what I’d figure to be an $110k F350 - but farm plates LoL …
(Outboards alone cost more than truck) …

Your Jeep is effectively much less polluting than the 100's of Teslas and E Hyundais that crashed and burned last year creating more pollution than all the cars and light trucks in Seattle combined.

Maybe not ... but it sounds good.

If everyone else can make up whatever numbers they want, why not us.

We happened to borrow an old Subaru skiing and Snowbird Utah actually had special very close spots that were Subaru only parking. No complaints about that at all. I believe official sponsored car at Snowbird is Subaru(on display). No Jeep owners took the spots and parking was sparse up close :)

Had someone rage at me for parking in the veterans designated parking at Lowes.

I did ~12 years in the USAF and was medically retired.

Apparently a veteran can't drive a truck without veteran plates... according to them.

I'm not so sure of that. When you're worried about your next meal, you tend not to be too concerned about things like ground water contamination, burning toxic garbage, trash in the river, etc.

Was going to say some poor burn wood and don’t or can’t reforest. Or they haven’t watched plastic recycling facilities (loose term) videos in China, India, etc

I fully realize I am affluent and am reforesting pasture land and try to live a bit frugally and environmentally- yes I use spray paint once a year

Those signs are merely "suggestions". It is private property, after all, so there's no laws involved. Some places have signs for "Parents with small children". Well, define "small". Do I get to define that ?

I first encountered one of those "clean" parking spots many, many years ago and I was driving my '99 Accord. I can't remember exactly the term anymore but one of the rear door windows had a "Low EV" sticker or something. If someone were to say something, I'd simply point to that sticker. 😆

No. California has a requirement for new construction built into model building codes.

https://up.codes/s/designated-parking-for-clean-air-vehicles

There's no enforcement mechanism per se, and it's supposed to be CAV/vanpool/carpool depending on the location. I don't think the carpool/vanpool is a requirement for a retail business.

And yeah - Hondas and other vehicles had the PZEV sticker on the window.

OK, so how were they supposed to know? They were defending your spot so you could use it if you showed up, but now your upset at them?

I don't give a rip who parks where anymore. There is no way to win.

Huh? They had a fit I parked in one of the veteran spots.

A... it's none of their business, they aren't the parking lot cops.

B... it's not something to rage over. Want to be some self appointed parking lot cop, don't go to people in a rage.. gonna end up missing teeth!
Could have simply mentioned it was a vet spot if it bothered him so much vs acting like I just kicked his dog or something!

C... their rationale was completely idiotic. Vets don't necessarily have any markings on their vehicles... plus could have been not my truck even.
One of my cars has disabled vet plates, but the many other vehicles I have don't.

D... parking lot was nearly empty and there was plenty of parking to include 4 or 5 (maybe more) other vet spots. Was just the spot I pulled in, I'd given it a whole .5 seconds of thought.

As far as I know, the only government enforced parking rules on private property are for disabled spaces. And I know people who got tickets for that.

Anything else and the only legal methods are to tow and charge the towing fees to the vehicle owner, or perhaps to boot a vehicle and compel payment. And booting creates a problem where it's kind of stuck there. Other than that, there's no means to fine anyone on a private lot.

I was responding to someone who was upset that a bystander gave him some for parking in a veteran's spot with no veteran license plate, which every state offers. But somehow it was the bystanders fault for not knowing somehow he was a veteran. 🤷‍♂️
