I was in the wrong and I don't care.

The proverbial can kicking down the road from EV production just doesn’t make sense to some, eh?

The audacity of some people… like go find something better to do Ms. Miserable.

The problem nowadays people are inconsiderate and believe they are always right and the rest of the world is wrong. You called it , the condition is called laziness. 75 feet is not a big deal for a fit person to walk.

I still remember when GM started using catalytic converters. My 71 VW beetle was exposed as a high pollution vehicle when I was getting to spread my gallon of gas 30+ miles and they were spreading their gallon of gas only over 15 or so miles.

Yes, EV chargers should get special spots. All the way out at the far edge of the parking lot, where there will be less collateral damage when they go all linseed oil on themselves.

The Jeep wasn’t running when it was sitting in the clean air spot, was it? That means it was just as clean as the Tesla.
EV chargers typically go where installation is most economical to install. Typically against where access to power exists aka building. Sometimes the edge of lots near power feed.

You can park within plaza rules a Jeep PHEV if you please.

If your vehicle has a cabin filter, it's providing clean air to the cabin.

If your vehicle's engine air intake has a filter, it's providing clean air to the engine.

I bet the OP's jeep meets at least one of these qualifications and. thus. he was eligible to use a clean air parking spot.

John

Those parking spots were clearly designed ONLY for those with an off-road "clean air" snorkel.

You did the right thing. Most restaurants have a few parking spots up close for carry out customers anyway. This lady obviously thinks she’s better than everyone else designating herself as the clean air parking spot police. These self anointed lofty types are looking for an altercation anyway. Had you reacted with anything that seemed aggressive she would call the police. Looking for trouble…she is.

My office is a 2019 mid rise. So it had free EV charging until this year.

Turns out, there were not enough EVs to use all the spaces, so paper got taped over EV signs saying you do not have to drive an EV to use this space. So ghetto—new bldg where they simply taped paper over the signs.

There are also signs, “low emitting and fuel efficient vehicles only.” You bet I back my V8 LS430 into the space. It has a ULEV designation and it gets 28 mpg on the highway, so I’m good with my actions.

And seriously, would I park the L87 in the space, once we get it? No.

Edit: I remember when our ‘11 Enclave was brand new. My wife’s niece only 5, said “My daddy hates this kind of car.” So she recognized that it was big.

We all come to our senses. Here it is 2025 and we’re getting a larger vehicle with 2 more cyl and 190 more lbs ft. And her daddy today has a 2024 TRX.

The little girl is all grown up, just started college, and has a RAM1500

Seven is right. I was curious so I had AI look it up. It isn't virtue signaling to put in those parking spots. Apparently, California has a law that requires new construction to have them in lots of 10 parking spots or more.
Enforcement is another thing. EV charging spots being occupied by another can result in a ticket or tow. Not so with the special parking spots. You can park there and tell Tesla Karen to pound sand and there is nothing she can do about it other than hold her breath until she turns blue.
