Wife called me as I was leaving work and asked me to pick up dinner she had ordered.

Went to the place and the lot is very empty. The 5 or so stalls in front of the restaurant are for "Clean air vehicles".

There is a red Tesla in one of the spots and 2 or 3 other cars parked farther out I assume those are employees cars.

Now remember I'm old, been working all day with no ac in a metal building. My feet hurt,my knees hurt,im sweaty ,just got into a hot jeep and just want to go get food and go home.

So I parked in a clean air vehicle spot. Call me lazy if you want but I didn't feel like walking 75 ft or so across a hot parking lot.

There was still several other stalls available and I was going to be in there less than a minute hopefully if the food is done and bagged up.

Of course I would never park in a handicap spot.

I get out of the jeep and the red Tesla lady yells at me saying that spot is for clean air vehicles only. I tried to ignore her but she pulled around my jeep ,stuck her head out her window and said it again.

I'm already in a bad mood so I told her that the jeep has 3 Catalytic converters and you can't get much cleaner air than that .

She mumbled something as I walked into get the food that was ready. Less than 2 minutes later I walked back out and the crazy lady was gone.

Ya I know those spots are for people that can afford a better car than mine but I don't care at this point.

Why should someone with more money and a better car than mine get preferred parking?

Anyway that was my evening right after work.

What is it with people that won't mind their own business? I was buying a quart of half and half and reached for the one in the back, some old hag yells out "there's nothing wrong with the one in the front!" I just replied, "good, I left it there just for you!"

OMG, do you take the bottom loafs of bread too 😷

Next time just tell them it's a health emergency stop and it's time sensitive, put flashers on and walk away after you lock the car.
I just came home and was on the other side of a similar case. I pull into WM stall next to disabled one and as I exit a mid aged lady pulls into disabled stall, her and her teenage daughter come out, I said to the lady I thought it was for disabled, she replied there is no sign, I say it's painted on the pavement, she makes a face... I lock car and walk away. They go into WM.

You just need these stickers on your vehicles.

"Clean air vehicles" is open to interpretation, Having a 20 plus year old vehicle that still passes California emissions testing could be considered cleaner than any new EV as they don't magically fall out of the sky already assembled.
My thoughts exactly. My car passed the smog test. Its a "clean air vehicle"

Isn’t hot a given where you live. You did not follow parking lot rules and some people like rules and express themselves. Sorry you did not like it but chance it might happen.

I think it’s weird and ridiculous too they make special spots honestly for anyone except EV chargers and handicap.

The Costco by me is crazy busy. Weekends are full on ZOO zone. They have a good dozen electrical chargers right up front, near the entrance. Signs say "reserved for those using the charger" (or something to this effect). Well, on any given day, less than half of the people parking in these spots are charging.

Those signs are merely "suggestions". It is private property, after all, so there's no laws involved. Some places have signs for "Parents with small children". Well, define "small". Do I get to define that ?

I first encountered one of those "clean" parking spots many, many years ago and I was driving my '99 Accord. I can't remember exactly the term anymore but one of the rear door windows had a "Low EV" sticker or something. If someone were to say something, I'd simply point to that sticker. 😆

Yes, EV chargers should get special spots. All the way out at the far edge of the parking lot, where there will be less collateral damage when they go all linseed oil on themselves.

The Jeep wasn’t running when it was sitting in the clean air spot, was it? That means it was just as clean as the Tesla.

Perhaps ask the business own why they chose the location for that type of vehicle?
