I was beside myself at Christmas

When I was in law school back in 1982 I was sitting in the student lounge talking to a fellow car nut when a professor that I knew pretty well walked by. He said to me, “I didn’t know you were into cars; I had a Sunbeam Alpine that I was tired of working on so I gave it to my nephew. If I had known you were a car guy I would have given it to you.”

I have been having a warbler since Christmas day. We went to my wife's daughters house, he boyfriend was there who I like and get along well with.
He had a 2015 Mini Cooper S 2.0T 6spd manual with 85K on it, the car was mint with lots of work done over the last 2 years (tires, brakes, shocks, etc).
It threw the money light a few weeks ago and he was PO'd and bought a new Bronco. They gave him a minimal discount on it and gave him $200 for the mini (that is right two hundred dollars). He said he didn't think I would want that car.
I came home and tried to jump out the window but it is only 4 feet of the lawn. I cant win. LOL
That last part had a bit of Rodney Dangerfield to it. Lol $200 is sickening.

On a similar note, my wife’s grandma was going to tell her husbands gmt400 for about this until she found out my wife and I wanted it. (It only has 90k miles on it. No rust whatsoever.) She just gave it to us, but it’s been far from a “free truck.” We love it though.

Are the Minis as bad as I have heard? I would have thought BMW kind of straightened them out by now? No interest myself, more just curiosity, perhaps morbid curiosity.

The earlier ones could be trouble prone but the newer models with BMW engines aren’t that bad.

New minis are one of the most reliable brands out there.
The N14/N18 engines were trash piles.

Any option of checking at the dealer before they wholesale it off for the next auction? An extra couple hundred for the paperwork?

I saw some older Honda's at my dealer waiting for the truck to take them away.

Sounded like this was going to be Trav and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. They all come and tell him the horrible effects of the car’s departure. The man that was, is, and will become.
