Well guys, from time to time we ask ourselves..hey whatever happened to "so and so"? He hasn't posted here in a long time. A lot of great people have left BITOG for various reasons. Also, this board has at times gotten heated and the mods step in in lock threads..or leave ya a nice PM. Sometimes we agree, sometimes we don't as to their reasoning. That's fine because we must abide by their rules.

Guess what I'm trying to say is..I think I, too, have had enough. I'm considering taking a break from here. I don't won't to go into details at this point. I just think BITOG has changed for the worse in many ways. It's gonna be hard because I've grown to love it (and hate it at times!) here and love all you guys - even though we all may not agree.

I hear ya. I came here looking for the "best" oil and filter and I found my answer (not the answer I expected).
After our initial questions are answered, the forum changes (or we change). I still hang around but it's not so "urgent" any more.
If you take a leave I hope you drop by periodically and keep us straight.

Sometimes a break is good. Forums go in an up and down motion so keep us in your thoughs and don't be affraid to stop by and say hey. I hope you miss us enogh to just stick around

They are running a business, we have to follow their rules. There are more important stuff in life than arguing with people you don't even know. Wish you luck, hope you change your mind.

Don't go! There aren't many people on this board that I take seriously, and you're one that I do.

I believe having good members are what make it worth our while to stick around this forum, or any forum for that matter.

But, if you go, I wish you the best.

Well, a few weeks off can't hurt. I think you should. Then things may freshen up when you get back, (Probably still be talking about PU).

I'm in that thinking mode, but not just this site. (yet

Sometimes one just needs to shake things up for a little while......

I have been there. I consider this a liesure activity, something to do when I have nothing better to do.
We all have alot of pots on the burner. I have a busy career, a new home, a big new garden to build, I am ordering parts to build and regear my jeep, I have seeds on the heat mat and need to check the temperature and moisture content before I leave tomorow for a two day trip to Houston for business. The fact that I see your posts is a miracle.

Life is to difficult without taking the internet seriously.

I look forward to your return, if I catch it, when you are refreshed.

I hear you about how things are going here. They are NOT for the better.

Many of us are thinking about the same move.

Take care and see you somewhere else maybe?

I've been there too. I took 2-3 years off because when I felt that there were too many newbies throwing out there opinions as facts. Heck, I even remember being banned back in '05 or '06 after getting into some heated arguments over the whole 5w-20/CAFE nonsense. I still see a lot of people trying to pass off opinions as facts, but have decided to just ignore it. I think theres still a lot of good info on bitog, its just harder to find and you have to sort through more [censored] to find it.

I tend to stay out of the oil sections anymore. It's just Small Engines, Additives, and the off-topic stuff for me anymore. I've been around less than a lot of the people in this thread, but I have to agree. I still stay for the brotherhood of oil. I have friends here, what can I say?

Well, that's one response...

Or, in the interest of stopping the frequent departures, why not just organize a 1 week boycott by everyone willing to participate. No posting, no checking or reading, no hits to the website at all.

i was just thinking it does not reallty matter what oil we use and our cars would go the distance regardless of much that we do if we just do the minima... which means what we do here is slightly superflous but fun nonetheless. i think we stress / obsess too much about things that pale in comparison to some of the scarier "pointy things" in life. That said i spend a lot of time on here because i am addicted!

Take a break, then come back.

It's been a long while since i had an interest in things here til I changed my oil recently. Finally some of that "itch" came back. But it took a couple years, really. Yeah, there's a bunch of opinion-over-fact types, but, this place is still really good though.

Take that break, but please do come back in the future.
