Friday we will be moving into our 4th home in 6 years. We buy them, remodel them and upgrade. I'm getting sick of that routine but our hard work has absolutely paid off.

I finally think I found where we will stay for the next 50 years.

3.6 acres with a creek.
2 miles to work which is a school that my daughter will be attending
Smallest house in the area
Needs small updates to keep me busy around the house.
2200 sq ft w/ a finished 1200 sq ft walk out basement
2.5 car attached garage
I'll be building a detached 24x25 workshop
My wife will leave me if I make her move again.

I was just sitting around thinking about where we started, and where we are in life. I'm one lucky SOB.

How many times have you moved? It gets old quick!

Congrats!

If I just count the number of times I moved since finishing school, it'd be 7. I think move #8 is close to happening for us.

Bicycle for now and possible a golf cart in the future!

We just bought our first house last month. Despite how painful the process and involved parties were, we are glad it's over and we love our house.

I bought our first house August of 2017. It's a just shy of 1400 square foot 1959 ranch. We both love it and see ourselves here for quite some time, neither of us are interested in perusing the "American dream" of owning a mega home or having a 3 car garage with a covered pool in the back.

That is just us though, and I'm happy your hard work has paid off! Enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Ya know a 30x30 workshop has 50% more room.

Guess the question is, when do roofing trusses start getting pricy?

I've moved 6 times in my life.
I had a home built on 5 acres. My driveway is 210' long. I border a creek on the backside. I have privacy on my patio if one wants to tan nude.

Sounds like a nice place with some acreage ... something I'd like to find myself.

Anything wider then 24 foot gets very pricy, quickly.

I get that. Moving is a lot of work.

I also get the "stay in a nice place" thing. Given the time, a nice location, and a nice house, there will be reluctance to leave. My current Florida home is that way. It fits me perfectly and there is not much more of anything it needs. It's not just good enough, it's just right.

Time has a way of changing things though.

Lucky you. I can't stand home repairs and upgrades. Its just not my cup of tea. I can't cut a board straight to save my life.

We have to remove and replace our siding on our house and garage on the sly. I do what I can. Getting the old siding off is easy. I can nail nails pretty good with my hammer after someone else cuts the wood to fit.

A neighbor helped us today.

Curious why you have to do it on the sly?

Many municipalities in the USA have horrible, horrible "permit fees" anytime you change, upgrade, or replace anything on your home (or property) other than the locks/doorknobs.

Is this in SC? I love SC for their real estate prices and dirt cheap property taxes.
