Looking into replacing my BMW 740iL Oxygen Sensors. I understand that BMW uses Bosch as OEM replacements and their prices is cheaper than NTKs price. So do you guys think that the quality is better in the NTKs compared to bosch?

Go OEM in BMW - I've owned 4 (1995 M3, 1996 M3, 2000 325i and 2002 330xi) and overall, the cars were much more happy with OEM parts -Especially spark plugs and waterpumps.

I know its tempting to try and find a "better" part but I have done some experimenting and I find that in almost all cases the fit and reliability was better with OEM. For me it was worth it for the fit alone, there is no substitute for ease of installation...

You won't increase your horsepower or gas mileage or make it last a million more miles by fiddling with the basic maintenance items.

They're equivalent. If properly gapped and at the right heat range, there is no difference.

Bosch created the o2 sensor in 1974 for Volvo..
their sensors work. Bosch makes o2 sensors for Motorcraft as well.
There's no glory in using a bosch over an ngk or denso or Walker.
However, I have had more issues with Bosch pertaining to pricing and availablilty of sensors for various models (usually japanese and korean imports). Bosch seems to only make sensors for european and domestic cars moreso.
Personally speaking, an o2 sensor is all the same. it's the stinkin' connector that jacks the price up to outrageous pricing.

I'm more into the Denso o2 sensors nowadays because they seem to have their act together.. they have sensors for all cars, and they're reasonably priced as well as OE for imports.

the NGK or rather NTK o2 sensors are very good, however they don't have a large range in terms of models. I am a HUGE fan of NGK plugs, wires and their sensors.
I used to despise denso, but they've come a very far way and their quality is at top of the par. especially with their starters and alternators.

You've got O2 sensors with gaps and heat ranges?

And there's the rub. Two differing designs though speced equivalent never have the same heatrange. Some engines are tolerant of this and some not. then you have fuel and tune variablity ... The ONLY substitute that I found worked BETTER than OEM was using a Nippon Denso K20pru-11 in place of a NGK bkr6ES-11 on the 2.2L subaru engine.

Bosch plugs ONLY in cars that came with them.
A factory O2 is always best in any car.
But in the real world, anybody's replacement O2 sensors are very very good.
