Last week I was over at my parent's house and took a look at their car's oil. I change the oil on all of their vehicles. Anyway, I happened to notice that I'm a wee bit late on their '02 Grand Cherokee. 1k miles and over 18 months too late to be exact! I don't know how this happened but it did. The worst part is I put a Fram filter on it back in 2007 when I did the last oil change.

Oh and this is dino Pennzoil, no synthetic here.

Tomorrow I go over and put PP in it as well as a Pure One oil filter in. I just hope I didn't damage the engine too much.

THE most I'd ever take dino oil to is 5k miles, so I'd say there's about 6k miles on this oil. This is all very short trip driving though. The only good thing is the car is kept in a climate controlled garage year round.

You know you're going to burn for this. I mean ...(shuffling and scuffing one foot or the other while talking) ..I know you have done many good things ...but there are some acts ...well, there are some acts that there are just no paths to redemption from. I'm afraid this is one of them.

MY GOSH, MAN!! A THOUSAND MILES?!?

lol. Hope OP wasn't too scared! So the interval is 1000mi, and 6 months overdue, not 6000mi and 18 months. Now it doesn't sound bad at all unless that happened every oil change.

First time offense, I doubt you've done much damage. I'd imagine millions of cars have gone that far/long and then some. Just don't do it ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anything except this would be forgivable.

In the afterlife you will be forced to drive a 75 Matador for eternity!

You can tell when a Fram is used up, by taking it off occasionally and shaking it. When the insides rattle like they are falling apart, it's time to change.
