I Need This for My Oil Change

Found this board about a month ago. Very informative!!!

My question:

What one product/service/thing would you love to have for your oil change that is currently not available?

I'd love to have a devise that allows me to drain/catch oil that spills out of my filter/engine when I start to unscrew it. My filter ('02 Ford Escape V6) faces down at an angle and is just a mess to remove.

Any one else have things they'd like to have for their change?

If you change it hot it will make a mess. Some have put plastic baggies up around and past the filter to catch the oil. Others have used a cut off plastic pop bottle. Another alternative it to let it sit overnight and then change the oil. Then the filter will spill out very little if any oil if you are careful. You should have a '92 Aerostar 3.0 V6 as the filter is above the starter and will spill oil all over the starter.

Still others punch a hole in the filter to drain it before removal.

I just diaper the ground copiously with newspaper. Some cars are so messy that, after an oil change, I have to drive it down the driveway and rinse off the mess on the undercarriage.

One thing I like to have (and already own) is a 5-gal receptacle to hold the oil until I am able to recycle it. It is reusable.
