Paulo, it ALWAYS smells funky in Decatur! I called it the "Staley Stink," i.e., A.E. Staley processing soybeans "back in the day." They've been bought out by the British firm Tate & Lyle, PLC. The big processor in town is Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), what with their Washington politco connections (hence massive support for ethanol usage from Congress), and, yes, they can stink up the town in more ways than one!
How did it feel to travel back in time ten years?
