Ahhhhh, it's beautiful!

I once had a mix about that complex going in the 3.0 Aerostar. It consumes a quart every 1300 miles and I bought a different brand for each quart. Even had some Maxlife in there that I had drained out of my pickup truck after only a 500 miles. Also had a quart of Royal Purple and I can't remember what else. Maybe I wrote it down somewhere--I hope.

Anyway, your engine will be just fine.

That exact mixture of oils is very common [in your engine].

There is no physical harm in mixing engine oils - they are made of be mixed safely - it's part of the grade designation.
MMO and STP are kinda at cross purposes, though.

Several years ago, I mixed up some Amsoil 5W-30, 10W-30 and 0W-30 for an oil change in my Grand Prix. I never did an analysis, but I figured since it was all one brand, I would be OK.

I have always heard that mixing same brands is generally ok, BUT seems like people always mix odd quarts they have left over for an oci and nothing happens so.....

i wouldnt substitute a quart of stp and 1/2 quart mmo for 1.5 quarts of oil

I'm with Mech and 02zx. The oil, different grades and brands, no problem. Bill or ****, or EK Polk mixed up a brew of 1/4 and 1/2 quarts and turned up a lovely UOA after 5K. Oil is oil, I'm starting to think. Not in Doc-Haas' cars, or turbos, but every other average lo-pop application, oil is oil.

I don't get the utility of the STP blended with a semi-solvent like MMO. I thought useful consensus was, a spritz of MMO was cool in the gas, bad idea for the crankcase? I got off the additive kick myself. I run the oil, Shell and Sunoco tiered regular, synthetic tranny oil. No more additives for me.

The blend looks good except the STP and MMO. I don't get that part. Like a wise man here once once said, however, "Kerosene with the proper additives might make a fine PCMO" (or something to that effect,and don't ask me where I read that, dunno who said it, but I read it here once or thrice).

The MMO will mitigate the thickening effects of the STP. In the future I would recommend thickening with a good quality 20w50 like Synpower or Amsoil PAO. I don't like to put thin stuff like MMO in anymore, other than I will sometimes run about 12 oz of Schaeffer's Neutra 131 for a cleaner.

No fears. My mother's 99 VW Jetta burns oil and I always have to check it for her (you know woman). Anyway, so far in the engine is Formula Shell (original OCI), Pennzoil dino, Pennzoil Platinum, Mobil Clean 5000, and as of yesterday, some Valvoline (all 10w40 or 5w30).

Nothing has blown up yet.

it won't kill your engine. all oils have to mixable with each other to be SAE certified.

Odds are rust and/or Chicagoland potholes will kill the little Civic long before the engine expires.

I changed the oil this past weekend and decided to just use up leftovers. My wife's 3.5l V6 Honda is now running about 2 qts of Valvoline dino, about 1.5 qts of Maxlife (both 5w30), about a qt. of 5w20 PP and about 6 ounces of green GC. Had I been short on leftovers, I was ready to add ARx to make up the difference.

STP is an additive, not an oil.
That being said, I wouldnt be afraid to mix oil brands.
Save your money and just buy oil.
Going thicker is fine, if necessary.

oil seems fine just a little red from the MMO.
i might change my mind and get super tech 10-40 synthetic w. supertech filter, and keep this mixed oil for the lawn mowers

I would have mixed the oils, but skipped the additives in favour of more oil, preferably just get some more ST Synth and leave the PZ out too. ST Synth spiked with some M1 and AMSoil would be much preferable, imo.

It's all speculation until you get a UOA, imo. Even then, a UOA doesn't tell all, but it will tell a lot.

My lawnmower has a knock. A wicked knock, but only on startup. So I am trying thicker. Has 15w40 now, but plan on running some SAE 50 and/or 60 next. Hmmm, lawnmower engine might handle some sawdust since there is not pump or tiny passages to clog. Wonder what it would do?

Knock on startup on the lawnmower, sounds like the bolt(s) for the cutting blade(s) are not tight enough.

only issue with the higher weight, engine gets harder to turn over to start, not an issue so much in 95 degree weather but it is in 30 degree October temps. Been there!
