I looked at this piece of junk yesterday.

I could probably part that out for $5K...or swap in a boneyard 4L65E and flip it for about the same. *checks map* But it's not worth the 6000 mile round trip.

Much as I like a standard shift, modern autos are very good. Saw a 4L80E still going with ~200K in a wrecker. (It was on its third 6.5 turbo diesel engine, but original trans...go figure.)

Well I never will understand people who cant check the engine oil lol..

Recently had a death in the family had a bunch of relatives up here...
a cousin had 1.5qts in here ford freestar.. told me the oil light kept flashing so she needed a quart of oil...
(was oil pressure light it needed 4qts ...3qts then 1 more after 75mi drive)

Her GF came up to snag some chairs and such in her 99 saturn..
saw me adding oil to the freestar and tells me hey can you check mine its making noises and last time it did.. I had no oil....

I believe its holds 4qt.. it needed 3qts.....
oh and the oil fill cap was literally baked in.. took me 5min and cut knuckles to get it off.

That's pretty stupid to present a vehicle low on fluids to a potential buyer. Most people spending over $1K on a work truck probably will pull the dipstick.

I sold my old Ranger on Craigslist. Buyer said "I was going to have a mechanic take a look at it first, but it's in such good shape I want to buy it now."

Ya especially when the buyer is me!

I went and looked at this pile yesterday. It's an A/T but I wanted to see it anyway. Open the hood and first thing I see is the air filter cover is loose.
No filter to be found.
I asked him how long has it been like that and his reply was "The whole time I've had it" I asked him how long he's had the truck and his reply was "4 years".

For giggles I pulled the dipstick. Atleast the oil was still on the safe area......ADD Mark. Oil was coal black. I know that color is not a way to tell oils condition but I will guarantee this oil was way over due for a change.

I didn't even start this one.......Not interested.

He's already called me today asking if I'm going to come back.

And you can get what you want with the 7.3 diesel would that work for you? I think you would be more likely to find one with good records with a diesel.

For the most part. I don't care for the Shivvy fender flares and it's priced out of my ballpark. But ya thats what I'm looking for.

Get a "F250" fender badge, and try to hide the five lug nuts.

2.If I should break a rear axle with a full floating axle you can still manage to get home or atleast to a spot where a tow truck can pick you up. Break an axle in a 1/2 ton and your whole wheel and drum leave the scene.

Can't you just slap a heavy duty axle in then? The F150 frame is pretty stout. You could also get a Bronco but by this point in time good ones are starting to rise in value.

ya well I'm having a hard time realizing that a 20yr old truck is worth over $3k

It was a few years ago, but I got $3600 (including the snowplow) for my 92 F-350. It was a 5-speed 4x4 diesel...what the heck...? OK, dude, please stop drooling!
smile.gif

As I said, it was a 5-speed 4x4 diesel, a pickup that I swapped to a Reading utility body after getting the bed smashed by an idiot running a red light, but also a crank-window, rubber-mat Custom that originally didn't even have a RADIO. When sold, it had 366,000+ miles, worn synchros in the transmission, and the A/C did not work properly.

The guy still has it.
