less background colours. stick to one perferably.
explain what a zo# is.
no rainbow text.

look i know its taboo to link to a competitor, but in this context i believe it would be OK. mods, if this isnt ok please delete my links.

look at those sites, clean layout, 1 or 2 tone colours, no wild graphics. cler and easy to navigate manu's. thats what you need. i realise youre not a professional web designer, but its not hard to copy someone elses site and change the colours a bit. just go with earthy colours. that would be my pick.

There are whole fields of study about what colors are pleasing, either by themselves or in combinations, but for the moment I would second the suggestion to simplify.

The colors in general need more "gravitas" (I mean, this is YOUR CAR we're talking about), and the multiple type colors in the Our Gang line looks, well, gimicky.

Good ideas.

The first one is the stock Amsoil "gimme" web site.

The second has some pretty bad typos.

The third one just repeats everything from Amsoil HQ. What a hassle to keep up.

Better take them down, though.

Master Acid had some good suggestions.

Clean, attractive and easy to read is important. It would be a good idea to skip your fancy curved stuff until you get things polished a bit.

I wouldn't say your page is bad, it just needs some serious tidying up.

OTOH, I looked at the html code generated by NVU and it's ugly. If you are going to spend much time with this stuff I would recommend finding a better WYSWIG or better yet get a good html editor and do it the old fashioned way instead of WYSIWYG. It's not too hard with a good html editor.

I use Eversoft 1st Page 2006. it will also do WYSUWYG but I don't use that feature. I wouldn't say that 1st Page is the best of the reasonable priced ones (about $50). It's good and it's the only one I'm really familiar with.

It would also be a good idea to start using CSS (cascading style sheets). It will make maintaining and modifying your site a bunch easier as well as eliminating a lot of repetitive work . You will eventually be glad that you started using them.

Dude, I got a headache trying to read that site page. Fine print is for contracts, not websites. Can the circus colors. They are hard to read because the varying levels of contrast. People that are color blind are missing half of your info. It's too busy, simplify.

Get a real domain name, outfits like godaddy.com are under ten bucks a year. If you don't mind something fufu like .us or .info they have $2.95 sales practically all the time.

Once setup, it will "frame in" your ISPs site like nothing ever happened.

I think a few pictures of your rock extraction and your cat dressed up would help gussy up your site!

in all seriousness try to keep your pages about 1 to 1.5 screen heights. long pages that scroll and scroll are unprofessional and subconsciously make me not want to buy anything from that company. cute animations are also a no-no to me.

In my experience, having your own .com is worth its weight in gold.

I recommend registering your website with moniker.com. Then, you don't have to worry about your "provider" locking your domain name so you can't change webhosts later.

For webhosts, goDaddy is one option. Also check out Crystal Tech (good reliability and customer service) and eBoundhost (low prices).

Too many different font sizes. Too much interchange between all caps and sentence-style caps.

I second the notion of too much info on one page. Set a "frame" menu on the left and let people navigate to where they need to go.
