I bought some cheap filters for my ARX experiment, a Purolator and a SuperTech. The Purolator has a conventional type bypass, while the ST has 6 holes and what appears to be a flat spring underneath. Is that a "clicker" type BPV?
I have a Super Tech ST3614 filter in my hands...

Yeah I just took apart a Supertech filter, it has the same bypass as the Bosch found at this site:

It's really hard to deform the metal (fig 5); I'm very suspicious of this type of bypass.

(Personally I think these arguments are much ado about zip, but, they do generate traffic on this site. And that pays the bills...

The endcap has six little holes on top. The 4-pronged metal thing to the lower left sits on top of there and covers the little holes. See this picture.
It's thought that the metal endcap will deform (where the pen is pressing down) in order to allow bypass, but the metal is very stiff and there's very little clearance for oil to flow into those 6 tiny little holes.

i know an AC Delco filter was used at the last oil change, and since it had the new label, and it did look like a SuperTech, did it used the same bypass?
ACDelco filters don't use the "clicker" type of bypass.
hmm, should i use this when my AutoRX comes in, or should i keep it for the Cressida?
Use the ST filter... it will work fine for the ARx treatment. I'm using the same ST3614 now without any issues.
