We have had folks on this site admit to picking up some oil on clearance, sale, or rebate at one store, then returning it to Walmart for full price refund/credit. Of course I think Walmart won't accept receiptless returns anymore.

Just the same as people who mod their vehicles then when something breaks they put it back to "stock" and go to the MFG to fix it.

Or people who keep two sets of maintenance logs just in case something goes wrong with them not following the owners manual and showing the fake one to the MFG.

Just as rotten.

If it's has to be done, better to have it etched into your memory for life and not use the lubricant. So that way your smarter for not going back there again!!

By definition, someone who has no morals cannot be immoral.

I have done this before, and as long as you're reasonable about it (like I was), it's not rotten at all. Ford said I had to change oil every 6 months or 5k miles. In 6 months, I had only driven about 2k miles. There was no way I was gonna change my oil out that soon. I think even you will agree that that would have been a waste. BUT, Ford might've made a big stink out of it if I had a warranty claim.

I later switched to 0w30 syn and decided to do 1 year OCIs, which is a perfectly reasonable routine that will not cause any damage. (If it would cause damage, I obviously wouldn't do it!) BUT, once again, Ford might complain that I'm not using 5w30 and not changing every 6 months.

So...am I rotten? I don't think so. Does that make me amoral?

I didn't view "feelings" as 'bad' words at all. 'Views it as bad' says the same thing.

I should have been more concise in my reply. Morality is not relative.

You probably think stealing is wrong - absolutely.

What if a woman is stealing to feed her hungry child?

What if it is your child, and it is not hungry but starving?

What do you think about killing people?

What do you think about killing people by starving them, so that you don't steal?

Do you still think morality is relative?

What about what is considered normal in one culture, and immoral in another?

What if morality is as absolute as you say, and what is considered right in your culture (your belief system) is absolutely immoral, but you don't know it? Will you have to pay?
