I hate people

OK, so just a rant why I dislike people. First, I had no intentions of buying anything last night. I stopped at Menards for some household items, and though I'd run to AUTO to see what they had for any fluids, etc.

I saw their enormous section of the Fram air/oil filters, and thought I'd just peek at them, and compare the quality of the normal Fram and and the Xtended Guard. So I just grabbed the first normal orange box, opened it up and took the filter out, looked it over, and put it back. There happened to be an Xtended one fairly close not really in line with the others, so I grabbed that one, and opened it to check it out, and what do you know, there was a NORMAL fram in it's place! Some people. Out of the one I picked, I wonder how many in a normal day, do people swap out the nice $10 filter for the 2.99 filter. THIS IS WHY I always open whatever I buy to make sure it's the correct model as well as the no damage. People are sad.

I bought some marked down motor oil once, got it home, opened it and found it was used oil someone dumped there. I have learned to open everything up before I buy it.

All the XG's oil filter at our WM are sealed in celophane - I know, I wanted to look at one but didnt want WM security strip-searching me 5 mins later!

That's what I thought odd, there the orange ones and the XG are not, they have the HIGH MILEAGE ones and the TOUGH GUARD or whatever they are all wrapped.

I feel your pain.

At Farm & Fleet, they open EVERY filter. The last time I was there, I opened the box to make sure that I had the right filter and also that it wasn't damaged since the Cobalt uses the newer cartridges, and just left the box open when I went to check-out.

At Home Depot return counter saw very upset clerk, because someone had returned several 5 gal buckets of paint, at over $100 each, and when they checked after, they were filled with water. I have seen M1 unwrapped oil filter boxes at Walmart with ST's inside.

In order from the low end: extra guard/tough guard/eXtended guard/High Mileage. Our XG and junk HM are wrapped/sealed. The XG is the "good" one.

My wife used to work at Walmart's return desk and as a cashier when she was in college. At that time Walmart had a 1 year return policy on everything, she said some people were returning used and unwashed underwear, socks, steel toe boots and regular shoes.

People were hiding extra stuff in clothes, or boxes they were buying, hoping that the cashier will not check these things. People were ripping the price tags from cheap clothes and putting themon the more expensive ones and the list goes on.

Some people are that cheap and some are just common thieves, so I check everything I buy, also I try to pick from the back of the shalve as these items haven't been handled so much by shoppers.

On a related note, found a pair of old/smelly/germ infested sneakers inside a box that was supposed to contain new/shiny 10.5D sneakers, at Wally's one time. Yuk..

I had a weird experience at Target a few years ago. I saw some cheap propane grills on clearance in the fall, but I couldn't find a price. I asked around the store and someone said they were going for something like $29.98, so I said I'll take one. A clerk got a cart and helped me bring it to the cashier, where it rang up as $8.98. I said that price couldn't be right, but the cashier and the helpful clerk said if the computer says that's the price, that's the price. So, I walked out with a perfectly good propane grill for $8.98. I keep expecting the Target police to show up in my backyard to catch me grilling a steak.

I got a flu shot there last week. They made a velvet rope line down the middle of the aisle by the pharmacy. I was inches away from fake corn husks. At least it was a shot in the arm.

Walmart caters to the lowest common denominator, so you'll get stuff like that.
purolator solves the switcharoo problem by having windows cut out in the box. slick.
cashiers at HD(and I'm sure the same at lowes) on how to look for fraud; common boxes to hide stuff in, etc. when you find some hardware or something in a faucet box, you are supposed to ask "did you want these also?" then just ring it up. they didn't want cashiers accusing anyone of theft. IIRC, the law only allows someone to be busted once they walk out of the store.
BTW, HD doesn't take returns on paint anymore, because of the high instance of fraud.

A friend told about what he saw at the scrap metal yard, where they pay you on the difference in weight between when you enter and leave. Someone had brought in his load in an RV-type vehicle, and was dumping the water tanks as part of his unloading.

I always check the oil containers a walmart to make sure they have not been opened. I bought a jug of M1 once at Walmart and found it was opened when I went to use it, the oil looked new, but it I didn't chance it. I took it back and explained what happened and they let me exchange it for a new jug.
