I HATE Moles !!!

I have been fighting the critters for 22 years now. Tried wind things, the battery sound things, the solar sound things. Only thing that has worked for the most part is castor oil. Go to lowes. They have two products that work. One is pellets that slowly dissolve and release a castor oil type product. It is very slow to work but it does work. I use it once in the sring and once in the late summer. In addition, I use the the other product that you attach to a garden hose and spray the lawn. You MUST water the heck out of the lawn or apply before a rainstorm to get the stuff into the soil. The spray works faster but doesn't last as long. Start by spraying 30% of the lawn closest to the house. The critters will move away fromt that location and you may actually see more activity when they do that. Then a week later spray another 30% and some of the previous 30% this will force them to the edge or into your neighbors lot. Then a week later spray the remainder 30%. My mole problem is about 90% better now.

I have been fighting moles for years and have found the cheapest and most effective way of getting rid of them is exactly what the OP is doing, the Victor plunger type traps work great.

The most effective method is to kill 'em with a shovel. When you see the ground moving use one shovel to block off the escape route and another to pop them out of the ground. Of course this requires patience and a mole run that is linear.

Some may poo-poo it, but I've had very good success with the Tomcat poison worms. Biggest problem with them is that they're expensive.

We have alot of moles in our yard. I've noticed we also acquired a 3 foot green snake that has taken a liking to them. He goes inside their tunnels and eats them. I know this because he poops out the carcass in the yard near the driveway, which is directly next to most of their tunnels. I also see holes where it's fairly obvious the mole didn't make.

I have a virtual nature preserve for a back yard. Moles are a big amusement for my Coon hound. Our Hawks also swoop down and grab one every now and again.

It's such a great show, why would we want to get rid of them?

Our house sits in a farm area and it is frustrating that the moles often choose my front lawn as opposed to the pasture areas.

About 25% of our moles are the star nosed ones. They are the worst because they push up mounds of soil instead of just tunneling.

Good thing they don't grow to the size of a large dog or bigger!

I have moles in my yard and have tried various remedies and they still come back. I have 2 acres of former pasture/pecan orchard land and it's a never ending battle to try to keep them at bay.

If they get to bad, I just run over the tunnels on my atv. If noting else, make the varmints work a little harder.

this is the first time in my life I haven't been in a home with cats. We have moles, chipmunks, bunnies, squirrels and squadrons of birds.

the squirrels are a PAIN but everything else is cute, fuzzy, and brings all the kids to the windows daily with cooing and other happy noises. oh, and my wife.

they do want to get a cat. they may not like the cat after the bunnies and chipmunks are gone.

Yeah, we have cats. FOUR of them. They're really good about keeping the squirrels, rabbits, and anything else out of the yard.

This is Leroy. 20 pounds and four years old. He got six moles all by himself last year. Still, it doesn't look like he's keeping up with the mole population - so I'm helping him out !

Exactly. That's how it works in my area at least. It's the Star-nose they we get. I've done it and it's been successful in my my yard every time. Get some Scott's GrubEx or the likes, apply it as directed and the Moles will be gone in a week.
