I hate it when people drive without lights!

Many who don't use lights when it's fairly dim are like many who seem to rarely use turn signals - like many who throw burning butts out the window who don't use the ashtray, or a fast food bag like I saw last week thrown right into traffic.
Lately seen many who must have just started their cars early morning and take off while the windshield looks 90%+ all fogged up like the other windows all fogged up.
Now some who do use lights needs to dim them to low for oncoming traffic, other, need the headlights aligned as I've seen some sweeping the dark sky - then the 1-eye bandits (single headlight) drivers.

In this madness, I drive with headlights on 100% of the time, it makes us SO much more visible.

I need a bumper sticker that says "got turn signals?"
another that says, "put down the phone and DRIVE!"

Two women delivering newspapers in the wee hours of the morning here in SoCal got shot by the cops because their truck was similar to that if a "suspected" cop killer and their headlights were not on. The cops that shot them were a protection detail for someone the killer identified as one of his targets. They saw a dark pickup with no headlights driving toward them, tried to stop them, and then opened fire. Thankfully, the women were not killed, even though one was hit by one bullet and the other by two.

I have never had a problem with someone's low beams following me. Parking lights are for parking in a vulnerable positrion. I always figured that people without their headlights on in the rain or dusk conditions were just stupidly unaware.

Now if someone is behind me with their lights on bright, blinding me, I get them to pass and give them a good dose of my brights.

I hate this as well. Around here, it always seems to be a dark car driving at night with no headlights, or a white SUV with no lights on in a blizzard. Thankfully, I have two high power KC long range off road lights wired into my highbeams to help them remember.

I hate when people are driving distracted taking photos on their cellphone in inclement weather.

Of course Ive done it before (in non-inclement weather so who am I to talk?).

I totally agree. I thought lights were on all the time in Canada?

It may be "inconsiderate and annoying", but they (And I) do it because too many retards don't see that normal light on that bike. There is a big difference in the number of retards that pull out in front of me with my normal light versus my brights. And at night, it's even worse.

I used to own an Audi, I once got pulled over because of my rear fog light during a snow storm. I had to explain to the officer what it was and why I had it on.

I had them on a 2001 Aurora. Problem is they stuck the switch for those on the stalk with the front fogs so people were confused. Whenever I see as 2001+ Aurora on the road there is a 90% chance the rear fogs will be on, lol!

State motorcycle safety classes actually teach riding with your motorcycle hi beam on...1) with all the stupid DRL's on cars a motorcycles chance of standing out to be seen is greatly reduced and 2.) If the hi beam burns out, you still have the low beam for night use.

What REALLY irrates me is those flashing headlights on motorcycles. I only see them on Goldwings where the lights flash alternatively and it is SUPER irrating. They really could cause somebody to have a seizure they are so bright and flashing. I almost want to brake check the fools.

I'm not sure DRLs are the problem, perhaps their taillights are burned out.

Every car I've driven with DRLs has had its taillights come on with the headlights, or when the headlights go into their "on" mode. In other words, if the dash lights are on, so are the taillights. And the GM DRLs are so conservative the headlights (and taillights) come on long before even the most safety-conscious driver would ever think to turn them on.

Almost all later model cars turn on the dash lights when you open the door to enter the vehicle. How else can they dazzle you and make you feel that your car is now too old and needs an upgrade?

Drivers just don't care anymore...most drivers act like they're the only driver on the road, totally oblivious as to what's going on around them...and then you have the wreckless "me first" people who think they not only have to driving faster than anyone else on the road, they also have to get in front of everyone else on the road...and speaking of the idiots with no lights on, how 'bout the ones with too many lights on? You know the ones, they've got the misaimed DRLs on with their headlights on and they're blinding you as they're coming at you...yes, the highways are jammed packed full of idiotic, inconsiderate drivers who all think their time is more important than anyone else's time or safety...and they all get way with it because law enforcement does nothing as far as enforcing the law goes...

Many cops don't abide by these laws, however. Same for turn signals, etc..


Motorcyclists should only have their brights on during daylight hours (and they aren't blinding during the day)...after dark they should switch to dim...

That is odd. I guess I didn't realize there were DRL systems that didn't automatically switch from the daytime mode (dimmed highbeams or amber lights with taillights off) to nighttime mode (headlights on normal brightness with taillights on).

That greatly contributes to the problem in my opinion as well.
Also I think that a lot of automatic light systems simply suck. I know that in my Mazda the automatic lights work great during dusk, dawn and night hours, but they can't cope with fog, rain and snow during daytime hours and I end up manually turning them on.
I think that most people with these systems simply assume that everything is taken care of by the automatic lights and never dare to touch the light switch.

My Honda has the high beam indicator glow dimly to remind you that the DRLs are on, and has another indicator to tell you if the headlights are on. I agree that with the lit up dashboards they should all have some kind of feedback to tell you if the DRLs or the headlights are on. Even if they do, how many drivers actually have any idea what they mean?

What I can't figure out are the ones who drive with headlights AND foglights on in broad daylight, the ones who drive with parking lights and foglights, and the ones who can't drive with any lights on (not even DRLs) at night.

Around here, the law is headlights on if the wipers are on, but long before it was on the books my driver's ed teacher always drilled into us to turn headlights on whenever it's raining, snowing, or foggy.

On my Honda, light on indicator comes on even when the parking lights are on and is not truly indicator of the headlight. It has auto-mode but it is annoying if you park your car in the garage as it will come on unnecessarily. With the HID lights, I don't want them to unnecessarily cycle, so I use the manual mode.

This is annoying! This is one great thing about newer GM vehicles - all have auto headlights and they come on with the wipers. There is no excuse for a new car to not do this.
