Hey guys. Recently acquired a Grasshopper 226v with a 26 hp Briggs commercial turf. 52” deck.

What are some locally available oil filters from the parts house like Fram, purolator, wix, stens, or rotary. that crosses over to the Briggs filter? The Briggs filters seem to be hard for me to find locally.

What about champion or ngk spark plug part numbers?

What about air filter part numbers? It has a round cartridge type air filter.

Looking to do a full service within the next month.

Any issues to look out for with this engine? It’s a 2015 year with ~260 hours. Are these decent engines as long as they are maintained? Looking to get the longest life possible from it. It seems to be a great mower so far.

All input is appreciated.

What plug is on thete now? Denso makes a variety of great plugs for that size mower. Autolite makes a long life Iridium plug as well.

If you want to try NGK iridium:
13/16 hex BPR5EiX .035” gap. For a .043” gap add -11
5/8 hex compact design: BKR5EiX, .032” gap.
For a .043” gap add -11

If space allows, oil filters up to ph16 and ph8a sizes will work.

I have a Commercial Turf engine and they are good engines. You can find the air filter at online mower part places. Wash and dry the foam sleeve and the filters last a long time.

Wow what a great mower I'd go over all maintenance items don't forget the hydros. We need pictures of this unit 😍

Congrats! I generally have a good impression of Grasshopper mowers. As with anything, you get what you pay for. They have a broad range of mowers; from light residential to heavy commercial.

You could look at what filter is on there now, and do your own x-ref on those filter sites. But there's never any assurance that the PO used the right filter.
What does the owner's manual say to use?

You could ask some anonymous folks on a website, but there's no assurance they will x-ref the correct parts for you, especially since we don't know the mower serial number.
Did I mention the owner's manual??? I suspect both the owner's manual for the mower and the engine are online via their respective OEMs, in case you didn't get the paper copy at time of purchase.

It does a great job. I just hope it was worth the $3k price tag. It’s the most expensive mower I’ve ever purchased. This seems like a very well built machine.

The mower didn’t come with a manual. I have submitted for a digital copy from grasshopper. I’m waiting on them now.

FL400 filter will fit assuming you have room in the frame. On my Ferris with the CT engine (810cc) it is actually easier for me to fit a longer car filter than to use the B&S oil filter.

You didn't mention servicing the hydros but you should do that. They take a specific filter that is made for use in hydraulic systems. I use M1 15-50 in my hydros.
