I was finally able get on My Harley today and ride for a few hours when I came home I dumped the oil trans and primary fluid after reading many posts on here I put in the VR1. I used Harley primay+ fluid and Belray gear saver. Cant wait to ride it again. Next week I will have this Bike 11 years its still fun to ride

I run the VR-1 in the motor, Rotella t in the primary, and cheap store brand 75-90 wt gear oil. It's the quietest, smoothest shifting Harley that I've owned. I've tried Syn 3, and Amsoil in y other bikes and wasn't impressed. Felt like I was robbed after hearing all the claims about how much better they were over regular oils.,,

I ran Belray products in the transmission and primary of my 2004 Big Twin. The transmission was s-w-e-e-t.

It is happy, and telling you..

Just changed my Harley crankcase oil today. Put in 2 quarts of HD20w50 and 2 quarts of VR1 50wt racing oil. I will take it out tomorrow and see how it feels. My transmission is noisy and I want to try and quiet it down. What kinda stuff do you Harley guys run? I have 6 speed tranny, 96 inch engine.

75/90 wt gear oil is about the same vis as 50 wt motor oil.I would try the next grade up in wt. That would be the equivalent to 60 wt oil. Mineral or synthetic ,that's up to you. I use mineral oils as I couldn't tell any difference in performance with synthetic oils, just a price difference.,,

Be carefull, you may have overfilled it. If you start throwing oil out of the air cleaner area it's overfilled.
I've been finding out 3.5 is about max on the newer bikes, even though they call for 4 qts.

I run Amsoil 75w-110 Severe Gear oil in the transmission..
