Hey guys. Dropped my Dual Bypass yesterday. It is now for sale to anyone who might be interested. It's posted in the FS section.....will be going to Valvoline Premium Blue on my next change in about 7k. No more Amsoil extended stuff for me.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cowhorse, a Truck with out a bypass isn't worth driving

it will not make it around the block...I had to say that

Well, you're keeping life simple. I'd rather have a sight glass than a bypass (not that there is much relation between the two

after spending hard earned money to install a bypass system and Amsoil lube, you drain it out and remove the bypass??
You had a system that is bullet proof and the most economical on your wallet, now you reverse?

Let me get this str8, the Amsoil system you had needs

explain to us all how did you make it cheaper and easier on yourself??

I don't think he owes anyone an explanation. It's his truck. He sure as heck did not ask permission to put the system on and he does not need permission to take it off.

I was asking cause I was confused on the less cost and time part. I never knew an oil pump to whine either, but who really knows, just wanted a little more information on the subject...

Well - if you've followed a few of his other threads, he had three main issues, as I recall.

One was the pump whine. Remove the bypass system, and the whine is gone.

Second, his annual driven mileage was dropping considereably. Moved to CA, if memory serves.

Third, he wasn't seeing as good of UOA numbers as he had hoped. IIRC, he still was having to OCI every 15k miles or so, even using Amsoil bypass and oil. Given the high cost of both, it made more sense to just use a premium HDEO oil (Valv Premium Blue - no pun intended) and change oil a bit more often.

I give him kudos for his efforts, and his honesty. He wanted to try something; he did; it failed his expectations; he removed it. Bypass filtration and expensive lubes aren't for everyone, nor every situation!

Dave pretty much answered your question Lazaro. It's what I would have said. I also learned today, reading form other forums and posts, that the Dmax has a pretty darn good stock full flow filtration system anyways. I'll still use a good filter (Wix or Amsoil). I have Wix on there now. I'll prob be using Valv Premium Blue from Pep Boys for 12.99 a gallon, so that amounts to about $45 per oil change every 10-12k. I'm REALLY glad that the darn whine is gone. It was driving me crazy. Plus, a really big plus, is that I get to wrench on my truck just a little more often....

Anyhoo, hope that helps. I don't think Amsoil is bad by any means, but my UOA's just weren't that great and going 25-30k wasn't sitting well with me not to mention the hassle of ordering and UOA's, etc...etc....just personal choice really, but an educated choice!

Good for you man. I used to run Amsoil. My problem was i changed it too early. Comming to find out there are just as good oils over the counter that save you money. Amsoil only saves time...not money.

could you help me find some of the older threads? maybe some with your UOA? sorry I have not been able to see your past history.
I have always had good results even if I have some sort of mechanical failure. I alaways find in the future that the oil was not to blame.
I could have easily blamed oil for my past failures, but since I am the one who does all the mechanical work to all my vehicles I always find the source of the problem.
I dont have to hear from a mechanic his opinion 2nd hand information...

I do not use Amsoil so I am not gaining anything but I have seen engines last runnining Amsoil at extended oil changes. The problem with Amsoil/most syn users is most do not run it long enough to take the Amsoil/syn oil advantage .
