I've been a member here for 20+ years and l will confess that l recently did three things that have always been frowned on here:

1. Paid $119 for a synthetic oil change at the dealership.

2. Allowed dealership to upsell me on a cabin air filter for $59 followed by a "cleaning" of the vents for another $100.

3. Took the car through an automatic car wash.

I guess l am getting old because l would have NEVER done #1 and 2 when l was younger. I used the excuse that it was "too cold" to do it myself. But at least l got a free cup of coffee at the dealership.

Take me to the river - drop me in the water 💦

lord have mercy , so they say

i can one up you and confess that i am about 10 years plus 40 some odd thousand kms over on the oil change on the 98 ram 2500 5.9 diesel i got for scrap.

it had been sitting for the 10 years and ive driven it this far after

automatic car washes are not that bad as long as its touchless !

Why stop there. Commit a seventh one by topping off the engine with royal purple once you committed the sixth one by only putting oil in only after you heard a knocking sound because you committed a fifth one by waiting until the red oil light came on and kept driving on after committing a fourth by ignoring the low oil level message for so long.

How old are you? I turn 73 in a couple of weeks. Had a shoulder replaced in June and crawled under my Motorhome to replace 3 80lb batteries a month later. Wouldn’t consider having anyone change oil for me.
Had a knee replacement 4 weeks ago and I did bring my old 4Runner to a shop for repair to the manual transmission and replacement of the 290k miles clutch. Wasn’t easy for me to bring it in but I really do have to start making allowances.
