Hyundai replacement gas cap

Got another CEL P0441 code on the Veloster.....the previous code was solved by replacing the evap purge solenoid on the engine back in December. I checked the rubber lines and both the evap purge solenoid and the canister vent solenoid at the rear of the car. Carbon canister appears intact and not split. Both solenoids click open and closed on the bench and allow or prevent air flow when they are energized as they should. The one way valve from the purge solenoid to the intake flows well and works only one way.

I checked under the car for holes, cracks, splits in the lines and didn't find any.

I think the problem may actaully be the gas cap. The cap doesn't click when it tightens anymore however it has been like that for the past several months. I also break the law often and leave my engine running while refueling which may have something to do with the CEL.

I am looking at gas caps the Hyundai 31010-3L600 is $30 at the dealer. Any difference between this and a Gates 31845 for $15? Stant is no longer making them. Motorrad looks cheap. Ebay says Hyundai parts but I bet the Chinese are faking them.

I had replaced the one in our 2012 Santa Fe, back in the day, with a Stant cap. Rockauto and Amazon have them. Pretty cheap. Seemed to work fine.

Awesome, thanks fellas. I will have to quit running the car while refueling then. I am in Florida, don't know if the recall would affect me with 71K on the odometer.

If I am not eligible and the new gas cap doesn't fix the light I will pull the canister off and epoxy any cracks I can find then try again.

Stant and Gates were the go to brands back in the day, I guess not anymore.
