My 2023 Ioniq 6 suffered an ICCU failure back in November 2024 in spite of having all the recall software updates applied.

I haven't heard this issue yet. If I was buying tomorrow I'd go Hyundai. I haven't heard much bad about them.

Let's hope it stays that way. Engineering culture or lack thereof tends to permeate through organizations.

I'm not surprised, growing pains, it happens, and sometimes it takes a while to discover them. Could the problem need something more than a software update to fix is the question.

Yeah, I have to admit, I like the styling of their EV's yet at the same time the new GMs are nicer to me, Blazer and Equinox EVs.

With that said I always thought more of Hyundai Kia ... but their gasoline engines blowing up I was unaware of until my own brother less than three year old (Sorrento) engine blew on the way home from Florida. I couldnt believe it. I didnt know those things still happened. This took place about 2 to 3 years (max) ago. Not sure if they have solved the issue or not.
All I can say it THANK god it wasnt GM

Many people love their HyunKia EVs. A friend of mine just got a new Ioniq 5 - when I visit him later in the year I'm definitely going to drive it and see how it compares to the Prologue!

As for GM, except for the recall on the pre-Ultium Bolt's batteries (which was handled well and resulted in a bunch of cheap used Bolts with battery warranties that started over which is awesome) and a few software bugs on early Ultium vehicles, GM EVs have been mostly trouble free. Sure, there are some issues, like the common CV axle failures on Prologues, but I'd take an intermittent clicking noise over a complete loss of power or inability to charge which is my understanding of the HyunKia ICCU issues.

What I like about GM is that they have a vast lineup of EVs, to basically suit any customer:

-Honda Prologue (LOVE LOVE LOVE mine, although yes my CV axles click sometimes and the mobile app is useless)
-Chevy Bolt EV (Ultium Bolt coming by end of year, or buy a used pre-Ultium Bolt for dirt cheap)
-Chevy Equinox EV
-Chevy Blazer EV
-Chevy Silverado EV
-GMC Sierra EV
-Hummer EV SUV
-Hummer EV Truck
-Cadillac Vistiq
-Cadillac Optiq
-Cadillac Lyriq
-Cadillac Escalade IQ

The only thing I think they're missing is hybrid and plug in hybrid variants of a high volume SUV and a truck. I think HEV/PHEV versions of the Traverse/Acadia and Colorado/Canyon would be HUGE hits right now. For a company that did the Volt in 2011 they really dropped the ball here.
