changed the oil on the 2019 Tucson last night. Had 1263 miles on the FF. put in 5/20 PP. hyundai filter looks pretty good inside. pleats look good. paid $6 for a new one off of ebay.

there seems to be some junk at the bottom. feels like sand , but might be metal from the way i cut the filter .

Thanks for the C&P. sub-2000 mile OCI isn't much to go on but the filter construction looks stout as ever.

Because it's impossible for anyone other than Hyundai's OE supplier to make a Hyundai H?

They will counterfeit anything and everything. I would buy from a dealer if you're expecting warranty coverage... is $2/filter worth having an engine warranty claim denied because you got some bunk counterfeit filter?

Just a word of common sense... if everyone you can find on the internet is selling for say $8, and you find one on eBay for half that, it's as good a guarantee as any that it's not a genuine item. The places that move real volume won't keep prices at the same higher level as the mom'n'pops, because their volume more than makes up the lower item price. JM2C.

Would you care to comment on the authenticity, legitimacy of these?:

I've bought those several times and I know the real item from a fake. The Hyundai forums showed a comparison. There are several Hyundai DEALERS selling them in bulk at very attractive prices. . Do you think a DEALER would sell fakes?

Probably a "Loss leader". Establish a good relationship for future sales.. Not saying the seller is a Hyundai dealer.

One of the few filters I've bought sealed in plastic.

While arguing, you proved my point. I didn't say ALL eBay Hyundai filters were fakes, and you also said several dealers are selling for a low price as well. Me personally, I'd take the cheapest ones from the dealer I could find and call it good (whether in store, online, or eBay, whatever).

But I can't do that for my Subies, because OEM is BCOD. I prefer metal endcaps, synthetic media, and wire backing.

Good luck to OP, maybe C&P the one you got when this OCI is up to compare.

The new WIX filters of this size resembles the OE filter as well. Just an FYI..

Made in South Korea too if I am not mistaken?

now you got me all paranoid. LOL. you might see the new filter cut up and posted quicker than you think. probably head to dealer and get one there for peace of mind.

They appear to be the same oil filter.

That makes sense since Wix is now owned by the Mann+Hummel Group, and the Mobius (Hyundai Kia) filters have been made for several years using the Mann design on Mann machinery.

Mahle appears to be identical as well.
