Hyster 324692 cut open

So we had some extra filters laying around at work for a Hyster forklift that we no longer have, so I figured I'd cut them open and see what is inside. Here is the oil filter, I also cut open a hydraulic filter from Fleetguard as well. Cutting this filter open reinforced why I always try to buy "made in USA" and avoid mexico and china whenever possible. The entire bottom of the filter was caked in some weird brown goo, probably a sloppy glue job. The filter was sealed before I opened it up to cut apart, so whatever this mystery goo is, was from the factory. Anti drainback valve was not very pliable. Overall, I was not very impressed with this filter. Seems to be a Wix.

Looks like a Wix made filter (in Mexico) due to the base plate and base end bypass valve.

I thought the same. I have always had good luck with Wix, but this one was disappointing (although to be fair, I have never purchased a Wix that wasn't made in USA, so that is likely the difference).
